Finally
I'll believe it when I see the official announcement.

But this ends the Reign of Error by these two. I hope we survive somehow. Homer Rice isn't walking through that door any time soon, but maybe his doppelganger will.
What’s Paul Johnson doing nowadays?
GT needs to hire someone with vision. Someone who has been around knows the game for they don’t necessarily need first hand experience or been around the block a time or two, but an Associate Assistant AD say from The SEC school. These persons know and have contacts and are ready to go out in their own if the right circumstances come forth. Football runs the show, and the hire the AD makes has to show that from the beginning. Georgia Tech was a relevant National Power back in the day, and they have the opportunity with some imagination and a creative hire they could put themselves back in the limelight sooner than later.
They are going to have to convince great players and a lot of them (depth) to want to enroll in the institute. That means winning some recruiting battles at home vs SEC and ACC powers.

It sounds crazy, but Georgia Tech may want to hire Scott Strickland, the current AD @ UF. Tech could go after Jay Jacobs if they wanted to, but JJ was Auburn's old AD and I'm not too sure how well he would fit in at Tech. JJ actually does fit in @ UF, so if GT grabbed Strickland, I don't think that the Gators would fight it too much.

Tom Jurich, as much as I personally like the guy, wouldn't do well @ Tech, IMO. The calculus requirement would throw him for a loop, I'm afraid. Now Scott Strickland @ Florida does have to deal with calculus requirements, and he's young also. Tom Jurich would do very well @UNC, IMHO.

One more thought: hire any associate AD connected to football @ Penn State (there are several assistant ADs @ PSU, but not many focus on football).

University of Pittsburgh would be a good place to hire an AD from as well.

Do you really think GT can afford to hire away Florida's AD? Or is he about to be fired?

Leave Heather Lyke alone. GT is at best a lateral move and she has FB, WVB, Men's and Women's Soccer all in the top 25. No need to start over in Atlanta.
