Family Weekend
Perfect weather

Elon sold two whole sections and the only seats remaining for us are on the edges (goal line to 35s).

Tribe won the last 3 matchups/years with two very close games, including a 5OT game.

Win this game and we’re halfway to a lock for the playoffs.
Jinx, ZN

Elon is 2-1 with a hard fought loss to Vandy, stomped a terrible winless no point scoring Wofford, and a close victory over Gardner-Webb.

Elon has a balanced offense with an accurate QB in McKay. Counter to our strength, Elon’s pass defense is there for the taking and they are bad on 3rd down conversions and allow a lot of converted 3rd downs.

Hope to have a few key players back, get off to a fast start, minimize mistakes and make us all very happy. We’re ranked 14th in the country…act like it.

This is a big game. Looks like perfect football weather in Williamsburg too. It would be a shame if there were any empty seats on Saturday.
FYI, the student section has proclaimed this a "Gray Out" game.

By the way... Love the initiative to create a strong student turnout. Winning certainly makes it easier. Hope it continues into basketball season.

+1

That is when they could REALLY make themselves a part of the game.

Is Tribal Fever dead? This is a new "student section" group. Why doesnt the school or the TribeClub become more involved in supporting these initiatives.
This should be a good test for us, and let us know if we are ready to see the likes of Delaware and URI in October. I think we're up to the challenge.

McKay is a legit quarterback, and I don't have to tell anyone on this board about WR Jackson Parham (2021 ALL-CAA First Team) who torched us last year. McKay has been spreading the ball around well this year though (3 receivers with 200+ yards), so the entire defense/secondary will have to show up.

Elon's defense is getting flack for giving up 24 points to Gardner-Webb, but that GW team also put up 27 and nearly beat FBS Coastal Carolina the week before. The defense returns 9 starters from last year's unit, granted that unit was a middle-of-the-conference squad though. Hopeful our run game remains top-notch, we get up early, and lean on it.

Tribal Fever is still around - https://www.instagram.com/wmtribalfever/
Seems like it would make sense for the student section and Tribal fever to be coordinated together... Perhaps they are.
I was surprised when looking at Elons stats. They, like us, are ranked in the top 20 FCS for total offense and total defense. And they have a game against Vanderbilt in those stats. They piled up over 500 total yards of offense against Vandy, a good mix of run and pass.

This is going to be a tough game. McCay is the spark. We will need to be playing at full speed and control him to win this.
Connelly has us roughly as a 9 point favorite.

Massey has us as a 4 point favorite.
Should be a high scoring affair. Hopefully we have some key players back on the defensive side of the ball.
Two deep is identical to last week, but that’s probably for strategy at this point.
Elon's field goal kicker, Skylar Davis, is consistent and good from beyond 50. Almost automatic that they will come away with points inside the 40 yard line. Winning the field position battle will be essential.

McKay has run or passed for ALL of their TD's to date.

Beyond McKay, this is a relatively young team. Their future is very bright.

While playing at full speed we will need to maintain control of our own players as well. Avoid the personal fouls and stupid penalties that have been known to plague us at inopportune times. (There is never an opportune time for a personal foul or stupid penalty...but some times are definitely more inopportune than others).
I think the formula is going to have to be getting pressure on McKay before their receiving corps can create separation. On offense I hope our backfield is back to full health but also their secondary didn't look great in those highlights. Maybe a game for Wilson to shine? Also their kicker scares me. I know you don't often win games kicking FGs but it's a nice luxury to turn mediocre drives into points.
34-16 Tribe. Book it.

Can I be the old man who complains about them not wearing one of our school colors?
