I think we proved:

1) we're demonstrably more athletic than a winless FCS team that gave up 47 points to Grambling

2) given how we weren't demonstrably more athletic than Grambling when we played them last year, the roster is obviously and markedly improved

3) Keyes is an effective QB when playing inferior talent

That's all I got. The W certainly beats the alternative, but it's hard to tell much when your opponent would probably finish in the bottom half of the MACJC.
Wha' happened to Northwestern La? I was unfortunately there when we lost to the Demons 22-0 way back when and hastened Jim Carmody's demise.

A lot can happen in 38 years.

I think that's very accurate. I can't draw any other conclusions from the game, as Northwestern was no challenge for Southern Miss. I think the only takeaway from the game is that Keyes will be the QB for the Tulane game.

It looks like Tulane will be a much bigger challenge than I originally thought with a 3-0 record and a victory against Kansas State on the road. That would make it a great game for Southern Miss to turn its season around with a win. I'm afraid a loss might result in a mediocre to sub-mediocre season. Hopefully they can take the positives from the close Liberty game and 1st half of the Miami game to pull out a win.
I think we're seeing ebb and flow with our QBs.. We have options.

We won by an appropriate, expected score, which is one of the many low bars I have set for this team.

At this point, most noticeably on defense. Offense still seems like a quagmire.

3) Keyes is an effective QB when playing inferior talent

Another low bar that was met.

My 2 cents, start Keyes and play a slow, ball control type offense. I haven't seen enough of either QB to say one is definitively better than the other so roll with your named starter for now.

Defense is clearly our strength so offense needs to minimize turnovers and give them time to breathe because I think depth is suspect.

Unfortunately, I think we lose to Tulane in front of their tens of fans. I have nothing to base this on other than their record and the fact that we're still trying to figure things out. I hope I'm wrong, it sucks to lose to a team who has less fans at their home game than we bring as visitors but these are the state of things. Also, 1-3 will be really demoralizing to everyone.

No sh!t 03-lmfao
Keyes is ahead of Wilkie.

I'm getting concerned that our offense looks this way because...this is how our offense is supposed to be.

Some series we have some really questionable play calls.
