Our board which has its mental ups (this morning) and downs (last week with the work stoppage and FB loss) should be ready for Buffalo.

It is a noon kickoff and will be on CBSSN, which more viewers get than the Pac-12 network. (hint: I think the Pac-12's TV problems are a cause of their instability - a conference is only as strong as their TV revenue, ask the B1G and NFL).

I look at the standings (not conference standings as there has only been ONE MAC game played so far) and it looks like we are upper echelon.

early forecast has it at 68 degrees and cloudy - beautiful football weather if you ask me
What is Powell's status? If he is good to go for Buffalo does he or Smith start?
color this shirt green and it could be our shirt. We are more dour than our record would suggest.

Good question and hope someone answers it. That is THEE question today, not does 'how does it feel to beat a Pac-12 team?"

I thought I saw photos of him without his shoulder pads but no tape, etc.

CC mentioned in his post game presser that Powell had some minor issues throwing the ball but nothing serious. Smith's running ability certainly adds another dimension to the offense. If Powell doesn't cut down on his interceptions I could see CC benching him and going with Smith.

I would think CC will try to confuse Buffalo as to whom they will see at QB and how he will use them.

I assume ASU was clueless to deal with Smith. Element of surprise.

‘79 in Creighton post game interview with ASU, he said Powel will not be out long - not sure how to translate that comment.
Great opportunity to have a nice crowd with many students, fans and alumni to build momentum heading into the halfway point of the season.

Hopefully we do not overlook Buffalo!!
Dear Luckeyone,
I would agree, but add, yes we beat Arizona State, but that should propel this team to get their first MAC win.

Yeah, there is always the let down game. I think we caught ASU in a trap game between Okla State and Utah.
It's been fun watching this team progressively improve on itself for each of the first three weeks. Kudos to CC and his team for keeping these guys focused on the next obstacle and helping them develop. It will be fun to see if they can continue to build on what they have accomplished so far. Even incremental growth each week from what we saw against ASU would make this one daunting team heading into MAC play.

Good to hear that. Powell had his right arm (throwing arm) in a sling. I expect that CC will not say a word on the subject this week and that we'll find out who's playing at noon on Saturday. Either way, I think Smith needs to see action because of the run threat.

This reminds me of Weigers/Glass in 2018.
This game is where the "Stack 'Em" theme comes in. It seems like EMU has had a let down following a big win in previous years. That absolutely cannot happen next Saturday, especially with it being the MAC opener.

This will be fascinating to see how C.C. handles it.

Will he do like Zelensky did and signal to the Russians a counter offensive in the south and surprise them with one in the east?

Will C.C. confuse everyone, including us, as to whether Powell will be ready to go Saturday?

Will he try to give signals that it will be Smith and then start Powell.

UB has a tough week ahead trying to figure out how to defend our quarterbacks, different style AND they have seen NEITHER.

The days where a HC pulls out the scouting report from last year are pretty much history.

Great point!! Can EMU get motivated for our first MAC opponent? Buffalo is not a MAC power without Liepold but anybody can beat anybody if you can run the ball and stop the run. Buffalo will be a worthy opponent and EMU can not overlook any team.
Should be noted we played ASU without Drummond andMerritt. Hopefully we will see both for Buffalo.
The TV broadcast said Merritt is out for the season with an ACL injury, unfortunately.
Personally, I think Powell should be the starter. Starting water boy that is. If he had played the whole game we would have lost. Simple as that, he looked bad. When he threw the pick, I really hope he under threw it by 15 yards. Because if he really had thrown it to Darius, and Darius would of caught that he would of immediately been stopped and wouldn't have gained more yards. Tanner was on the outside with no one covering him, 15 yards from Darius. Throwing to Tanner was the better play, so I hope he really had just under thrown it by 15 yards. Because if he hadn't that means his game vision and decision making is very poor.

Austin looked controlled and ready to play. He was able to get out of the pocket when it collapsed, that's something Taylor just simply can't do. Austin allowed us to run RPOs and actually be able to do RPOs correctly and well. Not only could Austin have the option to hand off or throw but he could also run it himself. Most of the time his throws were on target. The only real instance of him throwing an inaccurate pass was when he threw at Dennis Smith in the end zone, he overthrew by 5 yards. The biggest thing for me is the fact that he wasn't turning over the ball, when you turn over the ball you lose the game and Taylor was very proficient at turning over the ball, not just by throwing interception but not being able to get the first down so the other team comes out, then our defense couldn't catch a much needed break. And let's not gloss over the fact that Austin Smith is able to handle himself under pressure, last night he did not expect to get meaningful plays. But he did and he did really well under the pressure. And the guy is in Eastern Michigan eagle through and through, we brought in transfer quarterbacks to replace him and he stayed here. I mean obviously we needed more quarterbacks than just one but what I'm trying to say is after Bryant left, after hutch left it was kind of his job. The coaching staff didn't give him that job, they brought in another guy.

Some people look fantastic at practice but terrible in game time scenarios. It's a common thing in the NFL. For instance Tom Kennedy of the Detroit Lions is a preseason hero, but in the regular season he's crap. I think in practice Taylor is fantastic but when he gets in to game time scenarios he just flops.

I hope Creighton does the right thing and gives the starting job to Austin Smith, he deserves it. For me he won it last night and I don't see him giving the reins back to Taylor.
