Just my opinion about how each conference fared OOC, on an educator's A to F scale. BTW, I'm a tough grader. If you perform average, you get a "C", not a "B+" like in some schools these days, LOL.

ACC

The ACC notched some notable wins, including Wake Forest upending Vanderbilt (SEC), Duke beating Northwestern (B1G), and while not an A5 win, Louisville beating UCF is also worth a mention.

Balanced against that, Virginia laid an egg vs Illinois and Pitt lost a showcase game vs Tennessee. These are bigger names so IMO they count a bit more than beating the SEC and B1G bottom-rung teams. But the UCF win tips it slightly in to positive territory:

Overall Grade ............... C+

Big 12

The B12 had its moments. Oklahoma State cruised past Arizona State (PAC), Kansas State dominated Missouri (SEC), Iowa State knocked off rival Iowa (B1G) and Texas Tech beat #25 Houston (AAC). That's a nice passel of wins. On the other hand, Texas lost a thriller vs #1 Alabama (SEC), while #9 Baylor fell to #23 BYU.

The 3-2 record is good, but kind of like the ACC, the B12 fell short in the biggest games. Still, it was a pretty good week.

Overall Grade ..................... B-

SEC

The SEC had some nice wins. #1 Alabama survived Texas (B12) in the marquee game of the day. Tennessee took out Pittsburgh (ACC) in a thriller, and Mississippi State dominated Arizona (PAC). All those wins were on the road. But, the SEC was drug down by its bottom - both Missouri and Vanderbilt fell to B12 and ACC foes. Worst of all of course, Texas AM, a top-six team touted as a possible playoff contender, was beaten by G5 App State. There's no getting past that, so ...

Overall Grade .... D+

PAC

The PAC had one shining moment - Wazzoo beating Wisconsin at their place. Not easy to do. But, that was the lone bright spot. Arizona and Arizona State were both soundly beaten by SEC and B12 teams, and worst of all, Colorado was dumped by G5 Air Force (MW), beaten badly.

Overall Grade ..... D-

B1G

The B1G notched one notable win this week, Illinois beating Virginia (ACC). But Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern were all beaten at home by P5 opponents. EDIT: Also, Nebraska was defeated at home by a G5. There's no use polishing that turd, so ....

Overall Grade ..... F+

And Nebraska beaten by a Go5 school, so when that is added in, perhaps D-.
SBC

The Sun Belt Conference gets a A+ for their wins against the almighty SEC and the BigTen not to mention from the Independent too for they always want to be included. All wins on the road very impressive IMO. The best G5 league especially in football hands down.
Why did you abandon your old method which had substance instead of just spur of the weekend opinion?

I think the Massey Composite captures the purely quantitative approach better. This is just off-the-cuff opinion for discussion.
