Here's a search and seizure that everyone can get outraged about, Cedar the goat was seized from his young owner and slaughtered in the name of "fair rules" -

I don't think this is a political story although state Senator Brian Dahle, GOP candidate for California governor, was involved. It sounds like he did the right thing - “In response to Plaintiff Long’s inquiry, Sen. Dahle’s representatives informed her that he would not resist her efforts to save Cedar from slaughter".
It seems Cedar was the victim of overzealous fair officials, hope they're enjoying their great PR! There was certainly a lesson here for the child, that livestock animals are raised for consumption and that contracts have consequences. But there was zero reason for the fair to seize and slaughter the goat when the family was willing to pay the financial costs of noncompliance.
