…when we go 3-9, what happens to CC?

I've been saying this for now 4 seasons! It's only one game, but does anyone think CC in his 9th season has us competing for A MAC championship? This was an absolute embarrassment to give up 492 yds to an FCS school!

You guys talking about a damn good FCS team like they're D2 is laughable.

No CC will never win the MAC but he will have the highest GPA, graduate players, run a clean program, earn the respect of every high school and college coach in the Midwest, be a great ambassador for EMU, unify the alumni and steadily build attendance at EMU. CC will do everything you could ask for in a coach but He will never ever win the MAC.

I love him as our coach and he will find a way to get this team to 5-7 or 6-6.

Our DL is going to get rolled in MAC play.

We’ll beat UMASS and someone else, but we aren’t going to be competitive in our own division. NIU, Toledo, CMU? Forget about it. Even WMU looked great tonight.

And then what? What is the future of the program given a poor year?

This performance cannot be brushed off. It is a harbinger.

Sorry Luckey, but this isn’t good enough — not considering the resources pumped into the program.
I'm torn. I love CC and what he has done but tonight was a joke. EKU was a good FCS team but given the 9th year, better recruiting and playing at home you simply cannot give up 492 yards and think this is a very good team.

I planted the flag that this team could be 8-4, should be 7-5 and would settle at 6-6. I still believe we have talent but the defensive scheme which is so vanilla as well as an offensive scheme which is utterly confusing has me concerned. I know it's 1 game but we had the chance to blow them out and get guys reps and we didn't. I'm concerned a 9th yr head coach can't get the guys either in recruiting or preparation to blow out an FCS

Dan, I think what's getting to us is giving up 492 yards to an FCS I think in most programs that would signal an alarm

I wholeheartedly agree. But unfortunately, it is good enough for the school, hence the horrendous contract extension he got. 6-6 is now the target every year. That would be unacceptable virtually anywhere else.
He inexplicably gets the team jacked up against good teams. This team has .500 written all over it. Nothing to see here, business as usual.

Honeymoons on this board last about as long as it takes for a good church wedding (one hour).
I have to say I understand, and agree, with most of the negative takes about the game. It is why I hate these games against a FCS team, anything we do well is always with the caveat that it was against a FCS team. Anything that goes wrong it comes with "well if we can't do X,Y, and Z against an FCS team how are they going to..." I understand the point that EKU is a good FCS team, but frankly I don't care. If we want to start taking the next step and being thought of as a top level G5 team we shouldn't struggle in these games (last year against St. Francis was similar).

That being said, a win is a win and as an EMU fan I'll always take a win. I think with the games coming this month (LA, ASU, BUF, UMass) we will have a much feel for what this team is by the end of September. After last night though I'm not nearly as hopeful as I was.

What I want to know (and have been too lazy to find out) is about the 12 or 13 FBS transfers EKU has.

What I mean if they are stocking up with P5 transfers then why shouldn't they be a very competitive team? I don't know how much improved they are vs. 2021.

BTW, the Sagarins ranking had EKU ranked higher last season than BG and Akron.

Well looking through their roster I see guys from LSU, Purdue, Indiana, GA Tech, Washington State, Rutgers, Florida State, Kentucky, Tennessee. So nine total, but I would argue if a guy is transferring from a P5 school to a FCS school....they might have been at a P5 school but aren't actually P5 caliber players. We have had quite a few guys from P5 schools that make little to no impact. Look at the current roster (Dennis Smith, I'Shawn Stewart, Isaac Smith, Brady Pohl is only handling kickoffs, its taken Dimitri Douglas three years to crack the lineup, Carson Lee) were all at P5 schools and aren't major contributors.
