The Bearcats will be back!
I guess part of this is I'm just feeling grumpy after the loss and I don't necessarily think he was biased against us yesterday, but I could do without Rod Gilmore calling more of our games. It seems like we get him more than our fair share and I don't find him insightful nor interesting. Is it just me?
When the title of the broadcast is "The SEC on ESPN", you have to figure the commentary is not going to lean our way.

Gilmore is a tool. In the past he has been unashamedly and indisputably "anti-UC." And yeah, while he is a former FB player, he's not a particularly good sportscaster. There was a Bud-Light, "Real Men of Genius" commercial that had "Mr. Former Athlete Sportscaster Guy" which sums up people like Gilmore; "You tell us important things we need to know like, 'The team that scores the most points, wins.'"
I actually thought Roddy G. was more complimentary of our program than he has in the past. Several times he mentioned we are a physical team that can match up with SEC Arky and our program remains talented and is past the rebuild stage. That said, he's never been someone I look froward to in the announcers' booth. Similar to Beth Mowens and anyone from ESP3 or ESPN+ that is calling from a remote location LOL.

So, it's always good to digest a loss over the next day and take the game thread emotion out of it. It's clear we remain a work in progress and I envision the team getting better as the season wears on. New faces in many new positions and the sudden loss of all-world Renfro. You just can't overcome all of that during week one on the road against a good team. Could we have won? Yes. Obviously, the poor start in the first half really put us behind the eight ball. Playing better in the second half- Bryant in particular - is what gives me hope. You knew Fick's team will never quit and that proved true again Saturday.

Still, the poor cluster F execution near the goal line after the fumble recovery was just inexcusable. Moving backyards to almost out of field goal range from the four yard line [or whatever it was] reminded me of the 4-8 season.

Kicking game remains a big thorn in the UC football program's side. Still surprised in Year Six we can't seem to find a consistent dude.

How about Kiner? Did anyone see visions of Mike Warren potential? That is a good sign.

Overall, I remain optimistic that we will contend for the AAC Chip.
Coe was:

2021 14 of 17 FG
2020 12 of 17 FG

I heard he had problems indoors. Did he know he was outdoors?

Do we have an assistant that knows kicking? Perhaps we could fly Ruffin in to consult.

Kiner seems to have a similar body-type to Warren. If he turns out to be that good- I’ll take it.
FUK Yes!!! This was after the Tunstall holding/illegal block penalty downfield. I've never seen Fick this pissed off in a game before. At one point, he covered his mouth when yelling at the official because spit was flying out LOL.
Some better memories...

Just got back to the NKY area after my trip to Fayetteville. I thought the game last year in Bloomington was brutally HOT. Saturday was much hotter. It looked like they had just painted all of the concrete in the bleachers, but the paint was still tacky under our shoes. If we stood on the bleachers, we left paint residue on the seats. At halftime we went and stood on the concourse closest to the UC section.

I think it's time to call the hogs again.

We will be ranked if we get to 3-1. We will still be getting a significant amount of votes after this week...

Arkansas looks like a team that will be .500 at best. Unless they only have 1-2 losses this is going to be held against UC

Cool...

Now back in reality, about half of the AP voters had us ranked in the mid teens. Even with a close loss, many of them will keep us in their Top 25s...we won't be ranked, but I'd expect us to be in the Top 30, meaning if we get to 3-1 and look good doing it, we will be back in the Top 25.

29th in the latest Coaches Poll...we'll be back in the Top 25 by the end of September at the latest
Win the next 11, rise to #10 in the polls. Beat a ranked Houston team in the AAC championship and move up to #8. Win a NY6 bowl game and move up to #5.

Hotter than the IU game? Is that possible?

I may not have survived.

Yes, hotter than IU. However I do recall a game back in the TT days when Purdue came to town. That was very hot as well. The Purdue fans were amazed that beer was sold at the stadium during the game. Apparently they forgot to drink water as well, as they were passing out all over the stadium.

Indiana ran out of water in the third quarter. I've never seen a stadium so poorly run. No desire to ever return.

IU was brutal. No shade, no water. Totally unprepared for a crowd.

Agreed.

I like that Arky had water stations that you could refill bottles at, at no charge.

I just saw an apology from the Arky AD for the lack of preparedness for the crowd on Saturday. And promised to be better prepared the rest of the year.
