Southern Miss baseball stands on the shoulders of three baseball giants. Coach Palmer, along with Pete Taylor and Hill Denson, was one of them. He took us to the 09 CWS among many other titles and winning seasons.

He passed away earlier today after a long medical battle.

I had the opportunity to meet Corky a few times. I worked on campus when I was a student so I'd see him there.. And often ran into him at Poboy Express on 4th Street.

Each time I spoke with him he was kind and very welcoming.

Rest Easy Coach.

Gonna get Lenny’s today in his honor. It was a pregame staple for him.

I miss Lenny's. When my wife and I lived in MS, there was one in Madison we'd go to once a week for lunch.

Unfortunately the PoBoy Express by campus closed a few years ago. Had to go with the backup, Lenny’s

I picked Lenny's yesterday in honor of cork.

Shortly before he annouced he was retiring in 09 the team was in a slump. He told the local beat writer, If they play this bad again the post game meal will be peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches. The PB&J's made it to omaha.
