First off, let me say how refreshing it is to hear a coach who loves what he does, his team and staff. I listened to the 25 or so minute video and was really enjoying hearing him talk. He makes me excited about the upcoming season.

Obviously, time will tell how improved this team really is, but I believe coach. How does improvement translate onto the field is another question.

He is definitely a players coach and I believe at the college level, that is important. Especially in the G5 level. The winningest programs are the ones where the players buy into the coaches ideas and they deliver for him.

Rocky also seems more relaxed and hopefully his accuracy has improved. Hopefully, his receivers are improved as well. Because we don't know if the route running is to blame or the throw. But, with another year under his belt and a more mature team, this could be an exciting year for Huskie football. I am looking forward to it.

Has anyone else started to worry about how long Hammock stays at NIU? I know he loves it here but it's hard to turn down millions. We should take all(if we have any) NIL donors and give it all to Hammock. He is exponentially more valuable than any one player.

Rocky only needed to complete 1 extra pass a game to get him over 62% comp % last season. I think for sure he hits that number or better this year. Better grasp of the offense. Familiarity with Tucker, Rudolph, Crawford. Less pressure to score with an improved D. I see Rocky stat line being:

2,900 yds, 63.5 com.%, 23 tds, 7ints

Yes sir, I'm worried. Our pretty boy lost 50 -60 lbs and looks great. I have been trying to figure what jobs in MW would appear to be opening and where he would be a good fit. MN, NU, CInn and Iowa St come to mind. Those programs would open only if current coach decides to leave as they have good coaches . NU would be a perfect fit for him, but Fitzgerald has a lifetime job. In the ACC, Syracuse and GT will probably open up. Hopefully, Hopefully Hammock is a lifer, but that hope is just dope.

There needs to be a "Retain Coach Hammock Fund".

I thought about this and I have a feeling that Hammock won't leave at the first big contract being offered, but he will leave when he is ready to leave. I think not only does Coach Ham want to win big here first, but I think he wants to make sure this program is on solid footing before he leaves. I think he wants the program to be solid just like it was when Coach Joe retired.

The other point is where would he move on to? He was born in Jersey and grew up in Indiana. Does he want a Rutgers or Indiana job? Probably not. I personally think he would go to the NFL before going the college route. I might be totally off on this and you have to worry about your financial stability of your family and big contracts only come once in awhile so he may strike at a good opportunity.

I just can't imagine Coach Ham fitting in so well with a team except NIU. I just can't see him at USC or Texas or Miami U.

Oh, and what I meant by going to the NFL first, I meant as an Offensive Coordinator not a Head Coach.

I've said a few times I don't think he leaves for college, I think he leaves for the NFL. He was already experienced and respected at that level and his time here only amplifies that.

I think if the NIU job hadn't opened we would have seen him take a few steps forward in his NFL career over the past few years.

Coach Hammock did say when he was hired that this was his "dream job". NIU was where he met his wife and both Dekalb and NIU are special to both of them.

Coach truly seems to love coaching at the college level. Helping his players become better people, students and football players. You don't have that kind of impact at the pro level.

It will be interesting to see how his coaching future unfolds.
Agree with Dog Fan and have thought this since last year. Have one of the big donors set up an endowment fund for the head coaching position and as with any endowed scholarship others can make donations to help fund it. I think Wisconsin would be a logical step for Coach to take but Chryst is probably a lifer, but if dissatisfaction starts brewing in Madtown I could see Hammock getting the call. Can't really see him (Chryst) going to the pro's or other college team.

This. Retaining Coach could come down to our few big donors stepping up yet again if we’re lucky enough to be wildly successful the next few years.

NIU is his dream job but have to think Wisconsin is his big dream job. Could also see him working for one of the Harbaugh brothers as an assistant but he doesn’t seem like the coordinator type and isn’t going straight to HC in the NFL. He seems to love being a HC so I think he stays in CFB.

For now I just want to enjoy the ride and can only hope that’s our big problem some day.
Irony.... I remember this fan base had a few dissenters that openly gave Ham a putup or shutup 2021 year. Ham delivered.

This season is setup big time.
Ham likes this team better than last and I continue to trust his vision of what he sees.

Names called out for improvement during yesterday's press conference are
Thornton
McCray
Jalen Johnson
Gumbs
Negra
Blakemore (weapon)
Jordan White
Jammeh
Louis Frye
Eric Rodgers off from injury
May have missed 1 or 2

I have barely watched any video of Johnson but for some mysterious reason I feel like he’s the next big thing. It’s like the dudes aura or something. These weird feelings happen when you move to a hippy state with a dispensary down the road.

Back to Ham, didnt WMU try the donor thing with resigning Fleck? Not sure what the amount was but I’m sure it wasnt enough to cover PJ’s ego. Elon Musk doesn’t have that kinda money.

I was definitely one of the people saying that Hammock needed to win in 2021, but I don't know how anyone can blame me. If the Huskies went sub .500 in 2021 we would all be saying that Hammock needs to win this year or show him the door.

The good news is that Hammock proved the doubters wrong and the Huskies are back where they belong, atop the MAC.

As much as I would personally love that, as a Ravens fan. I think that job is being groomed for their current D Coordinator MacDonald. He would be excellent back in Baltimore, as he just fits that culture so well and was well respected.

Back to the topic of Hammock leaving, it was always in the plans as much as it's inevitable. Other than Novak, we have always been a culture to promote our people into bigger and better things. I can't get angry at people for wanting to move up.

He will no doubt find success in wherever he ends up next, and make a ton of money on his way up. It will stink to lose him. But I have a feeling there are plenty of great options with NIU ties to help keep this train moving. He's laying a great foundation for future success. Let's all try and enjoy this ride, because he's building a team that is bigger and better than competing in the MAC.

That would be nice to see as he has earned that level of respect. That said, I do not think that he is driven by the all mighty dollar. If coach Hammock continues to build on the foundation that he has already established NIU will once again become one of the leading group of five schools in the country and a program that commands national respect. At that point he has nothing left to prove and I suspect that he will be open to offers from power five schools that are a good fit.

I have always thought that given his past history that he would be a great fit at Wisconsin and when/if he does leave I hope he winds up there as my older daughter and two of my granddaughters live in Wisconsin and might well become Badgers.[/i]
