Way to go Camels!
I said two/three days ago I was surprised they're still in the Big South the way they spend.
CAA looking to create mega conference?

An opportunity for UNC, UVA and Duke to create a new fiefdom?
Big South better start inviting D2 schools. Maybe the Georgia D2 schools.

It’s likely the A-Sun has already approached those schools. I don’t see a reason they’d join the Big South instead of the A-Sun.
I guess they couldn't get Howard.

Campbell is a better fit and upwardly trending. You could kind of see this coming but I think another solid, strategic add for the CAA.
If I'm the ASUN I'm calling Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb to see if they are interested in moving.

I hope we don't add Gardner Webb. They've been so blah the entire time KSU was in the big South. Atleast I've seen Charleston Southern get good when they had a great coach.
Interesting! At 15 members, they'll be the largest football conference in D1, albeit just for one year. Another weak add in terms of FB strength though.

They also apparently couldn’t get any of the non-football schools out of the Metro Atlantic that a few posters thought would surely make that lateral move. ?

This is the only website on the internet where this thread gets 12 replies.

There is a P5 sub forum at the top of the realignment page. You should go to that site. This site covers a LOT of non P5 issues. Many posters here do not care for P5 schools from the $EC, etc..

Well, these aren’t even FBS conferences.

I’m not even sure if the Big South and CAA are FCS, Division II or Division III, All I know is they aren’t FBS conferences.

Which is precisely why this is a forum on the internet where this kind of news can receive 12 replies (now more due to this meta-discussion): it has attracted people who know that Division I has three subdivisions, and which of those subdivisions the Big South and CAA are in (Hint: same subdivision as the OVC, Patriot, &tc).

There aren't technically 3 subdivisions, just 2. Non-football schools are just not in either subdivision.

It had to be a southern school

60+ on Reddit as well.

This board is literally designed for topics regarding conferences like these - this site has been discussing these conferences for 15+ years. It’s not on everyone else to cater to one infrequent poster’s interests. If you have nothing to contribute to a useful, relevant topic, then it’s common courtesy to leave the thread to the people interested in a quality discussion.
someone bump the D-II,D-III,NAIA realignment thread for him to watch his head explode05-stirthepot
I’m not a huge fan of the expanded CAA. For their level of play in both basketball and football that’s just too big. 10 would have been sensible; 12 at the most of the result is geographically compact divisions. At 14, you’re pretty much too 7 team leagues who have to share a MBB autobid.

What the AD's have talked themselves into, I am sure, is that if the conference can get a better media deal and draw more eyes, the competitiveness of the conference can grow to the point where it can be a 2-bid threat some years. Failing that, they can try to add more teams down the line and split into two different conferences.

I don't think either of those will happen. But I'm excited for regionalized divisions.

This add was all about establishing two clear geographic divisons that are pretty much bus leagues.

Whether at 12 or 14 it will still come down to 3 days in March...so why not save on travel
