How much they come together quickly and move us forward is what most of us are waiting on. I wish that I could see some Fall practice and get a better feel. Over-all we have improved our depth at pretty much every position. We have added weight on the OL and height/speed at WR. We have stepped up our secondary as well. These were all areas that needed help. Our QB competition is better than it has been in years. Still, there is a lot of newness that the team and coaches are all dealing with, together with the fans. We need to dominate Lamar again for me to feel good in the first game. We need to play competitively against Mizzou before I can begin to feel like we have moved forward any.

A breakdown of our incoming class of scholarship players -

DL-3
LB-4
DB-7 (14 defense)
RB- 3
WR-6
TE-2
OL-6
QB-2 (19 offense)
K-1 (1)

HS-10
JUCO-5
FBS-19

That was the least excited attempt of a coach to try and hype up his school I've ever seen lol

That's just his personality.
So why is SH not considered in this ranking? They’re still FCS, they’re playing a FCS schedule and won’t transition until the following year.

I wish it were so. However, Sam has already begun the migration to FBS and will exceed the 63 scholarship limit for FCS.
Here are some FCS out-of—conference games that could help the reputation of the WAC as a football conference-

Southern Utah @ Western Illinois (MVFC)
Utah Tech @ Sacramento State and Weber State (big Sky) and Northern Iowa (MVFC). Ouch
Tarleton @ North Alabama (ASUN)
SFA v Jacksonville State (ASUN/transitioning to FBS)
ACU @ North Dakota (MVFC)

Thanks for the clarification. Seems like it’s kind of cheating playing a FCS schedule with more scholarships.
Those of us in Texas know Dave Campbell’s Texas Football as the annual bible for football in the great state. The magazine cover every football playing institution in Texas from professional, college and high school, and I’m not kidding. FBS, FCS, D2, D3, NAIA and Junior College are all included.

Normally the football magazine comes out in June and is written in April/May. Due to supply issues with the printed paper, it is only now available.

So here is its WAC projected finish:

1. SFA
2. Sam Houston
3. UIW
4. Tarleton
5. ACU
6. Lamar
7. Utah Tech

No idea why SUU is not included.

Probably the same reason he still has Lamar on there.

No that’s not the reason. This was put together in April/May when Lamar and UIW were still coming to the WAC and we’ve known SUU was coming for a couple of years.

Looks like the Texans really helped themselves in the QB room. Allen appears to be a FCS star in the making.
