it runs about an hour. my biggest takeaway is we need to get his enthusiasm beyond the dac. he's clearly pumped and he says the other coaches around the dac are the same. i don't feel that funnels down through the rest of the athletic department and into the fans/alumni. we're trying to change that.
Yeah it was a good listen. He says all of the right things, he has since he got here. He is a guy you can easily root for and hope he has success. To your point, many of us have seen how stagnant our athletic department has been, so its tougher to drink his kool-aid because the issues that have been around are still around and driving the boat. This is a big year for me with Maisha. She has her feet wet now, now lets see what her vision is and what direction she is going. But its also time to see action and not just words.
The DAC upgrades are a great action that should get us all excited. We will see how far it trickles down and what type of commitment there truly is into getting better and sustaining success and even just making basketball a priority and the face of Drexel. Spiker mentioned it, hopefully it rings true and becomes reality. Those near campus or current students will be the ones that will see if they are committed to raising the profile around campus and what they do to achieve that.
My biggest thing was hearing how open he is with alumni and engaging them with current players. Building that family atmosphere and a program is super important and I am glad he and the staff are fully behind doing so. That is a great thing he has going on.
