I know it's small but it was built in 2010 and seems like a nice facility. I'd assume you get more bang for your buck by increasing capacity there vice building a whole dang brand new one.

From what I gathered from the athletic department, the current stadium is too close the two roads that run next to it, so expanding it would probably be a logistical nightmare. This was what our sports broadcaster informed us on, that was talked about during the planning period of this.

I'm hardly an expert on the matter, but that was my guess, even if you could build it there, the whole area turns into a cluster**** even for a few thousand people going to a soccer game.

I think it would be incredibly foolish for KSU to build a 30k seat stadium, but if they do so, I can't imagine how that many people could get to the current site given the infrastructure.

Starting over at a new site would be best. The current site is very limited on expansion opportunities in several areas. Kennesaw seems to never quit growing which causes traffic and space issues alone with increasing cost.

Not building a 30k seat stadium for increasingly irrelevant G5 football would be best, but yeah, if they're deadset on doing it, the new complex is the only way that makes sense.

Had KSU(and the area) been on this trajectory 20 years ago this could have made a lot of sense. And I might have given KSU more some consideration when I graduated high school just a few miles away. But if the power conference breakaway happens any time soon, they'd be building 30k seats for a world that no longer exists. I don't think the drop off in interest in G5 football will be instant or total, but ten years down the road I doubt it will be viewed much(if at all) differently than FCS is now.

I agree, I think a nice 20k seat stadium is more than enough for the majority of the G5.
20K would handle KSU football on the majority of games, but their market could offer opportunities for other events in need of a few more seats. Not sure of the demand for outdoor concerts or other type events in the NW ATL market. Plenty of people close to create some demand.

Cobb already has some good options for venues. Right now KSU is used for Atlanta United 2.
Any idea what would happen with the old stadium? As I said it looks pretty nice so it should have a life after the new one gets built.

Lacrosse and soccer play there currently, I would think Atlanta United 2 would stay there as well as they don't need anywhere near 30k seats. Only reason I could see to tear it down would be if the space it occupies was needed for infrastructure.
