I don't know much about Emoni Bates. Other than MSU fans hate him because he spurned them (and MSU fans are loathsome piles of human waste in general), but also that he wasn't too good at Memphis. This is probably the best EMU team in 25+ years. Would be nice if WMU could improve as well and have some relevant games.

With all the hype in HS you'd have thought he was the next LeBron James.

Now he's in the MAC. Izzo has to be smiling to himself.

Curious to see how EMU's staff handles his family. By all accounts their insane level of desired control is why all of the big names balked.

Wonder how many choices he had left.

Not necessarily. Eastern has recruited some very good players besides Emoni Bates. I will agree that everyone was hoping that he would be a contributor, but most were not looking at him as a savior.
In any case, we will have to wait and see whether the charges stick, and if they do, what are the penalties.

I bet he beats the charge and sees for the floor for EMU…for at least 1 season.
