Thanks for posting. I was relieved to see a lot of contributors are returning for us next year. With the transfer portal I guess we are pretty lucky to keep all the players that we did. Cannot wait for Fall practice!

I wonder if the two transfers. Carter from Savannah State and May from Eastern Michigan are no longer coming or won't get here until fall camp begins. Anyone have any idea?

Exactly the same question that I had. I was assuming(hopefully) that they just have not arrived yet. Those two player have experience on the field that we could definitely use.

Sometimes transfers names arent added until classes are in session. I would bet this is the case.

I noticed that Cade Larkins, QB from David Crockett HS, is no longer on the roster. Anyone have any insight as to why?

Kenny Hawkins said on the radio that he had spoken to Cade Larkins and that Cade had confirmed to Kenny that he was no longer on the team. Sounds to me like he just couldn't make his way up the depth chart.

Kids find out college sports are hard work without guaranteed stardom, unlike what they experienced in high school. Maybe I'm wrong about it here, but it's a common theme for many players from our area.

The 2022 roster has been updated and the transfers are now listed.

A quick look - zero transfers down from the Power Five. Didn’t we have a transfer or two transfer up to the Power Five?

Yes most of our transfers come from lower down fbs schools or other D2 or fcs schools. We got the transfer from Arkansas but he obviously did not stay long enough to make the roster. But the transfers we got have experience and will come in and be able to contribute more than a raw freshman would. I wish Shorts and Adkins had stayed as they would have been huge for us next year but that is the state of college football now with transfers.

Color me a cynic - but I just can envision the Transfer Portal helping the small college football and basketball as much as major college football and basketball — UNLESS there’s a Major League Baseball model adopted. The big boys can send down players through inter-conference agreements. For example, the SEC (Major) and SoCon (Minor) would have players moving up and down, with the major conferences sharing some of the wealth with the minor conferences.

One interesting transfer is #80 WR Cameron Lewis who played quarterback at ETSU for two years before transferring to Winston-Salem State.

A young team. A quick look - less than ten seniors and grad students.
