Gobs of very interesting tidbits. Worth a watch (they start talking around 10 minutes into the stream). Some highlights:

Transfer Portal:
- Cullop said UT recruited Brewer out of HS & her mom preferred UT, but she wanted to stay home. After a couple seasons has changed her mind
- C worked at Long Beach State for a year so was able to make a connection with King. Her mom is a good friend of Ealey, and Chuck sent a letter saying UT signed a good one
- C said that she may have to play up-tempo and press to get enough minutes to keep all her players happy
- Only player Kowalczyk ever regrets transferring out was Stuckey Mosely. All the others were not gonna play anyway
- K said they have signed 2 and "are still gonna add 1 more"
- Later he said they are "waiting" for a Big, but "they're hard to get"
- K said not looking at HS players because doesn't think they would impact the team, and so would sit & probably transfer after a year
- K said he is glad he is near the end of his career

NCAA Transformational Committee:
- Co-chair is the AD from OU, Julie Cromer
- May release their draft report in August
- C hearing they may eliminate the 1-time-only transfer waiver, so players can transfer as much as they want
- C said the compliance rules will be reduced significantly
- K speculates that the P6 teams will form their own tournament separate from the NCAA
- K speculates they will eliminate the caps on # of scholarships & # of coaches for all sports

NIL:
- Alston lawsuit money coming this year (school will be able to give up to $5980 to each athlete)
- Top athlete at UT made about $10K last year
- Top WBB player made about $4K teaching lessons
- MAC is 11th in NIL compensation
- Average D1 athlete made $644 (vast majority of students got 0, and most made no effort to take advantage)
- K said there is a company forming called "Blue and Gold Legacy" to raise money to pay the athletes, the way the big schools are
- UT will not use that money for recruiting
- They are hoping to raise maybe $100K per year to provide to athletes, including as inducements to not transfer out
- Both coaches pointed out many of their players have no family money to help with car/apartment/etc and so even a small amount of $ can make a big impact on them
- K said one player got like $1000 worth of free underwear from a company. Now has to pay taxes on that, which the player did not realize beforehand

Scheduling:
- C said top-10-type teams will play UT, no problem, but the next tier of schools that are beatable is much harder to get - most refuse to play @ UT because of the 4000+ fans
- K said MBB is implementing in 23-24 the reported proposal of leaving a spot in Feb to add games against similarly ranked schools
- K said they are talking to Syracuse & NC State as possible future opponents

MAC Tourney:
- Got a question about why the tourney can't be in Toledo
- Both coaches support having it in Toledo - suggestion that maybe MBB & WBB have 1 in Cle & the other Tol, then alternate
- None of the other MAC coaches (except maybe BG) want the tourney in Toledo because of the competitive advantage for UT
- K says the coaches want all 12 teams to be at the tourney, and that can't happen if both are in the same place

Thanks for the update. That's a lot to take in. If scholarships ever become unlimited, the MAC might as well be DII. Tournament used to be in Toledo.
Given that most of the tourney games are during the day in front of few fans, the tourney could use Cleveland State for some early games. Bet it would only be the first round everyone is in

Why would the MAC give money to a school that is not, nor ever be in the conference???

Great stuff NC... thank you.

The NCAA basketball tournament will be dead as we know it in just a few years since TV rights and P6 muscle dollars will merge. The P6 will demand an ever larger share of the TV pie. Very sad indeed.
Unlimited staffs, scholarships, NIL money...not good for UT or MAC. This is going full steam ahead into a top 90 schools for hoops and top 60 for FB and that doesn't help us in any way. Sure hope we hold off on the $$ spend for BB and SB until the dust settles. Be interesting how we spend the
100 K if we can raise it annually. It won't go far. I am sure the big three (FB,MBB and WBB) will want it for themselves. WOW this is getting crazier every time you look.
Might as well enjoy football and basketball as it is now. In a few years we probably won’t recognize it anymore, based on the comments from our basketball coaches. I can see why Coach K is glad he’s getting near the end for him.
Coach Cullop also said that the MAC will be going back to 18 game conference schedule.

When talking about the MAC Tourny in Toledo and how TK thinks all 12 teams should make it, he also said he told the other coaches at the MAC meetings "my message was to the other coaches - pretty simple - don't finish 9th thru 12th."
