ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the three-game series with South Alabama at 34-16-1 overall and 19-7-1 in Sun Belt Conference action.
• The Chanticleers have won 17 of their last 20 games and 14 of their last 15 conference games with sweeps over Appalachian State (April 14-16) and UTA (April 22-24), a 2-1 series win on the road at Georgia Southern (April 29-May 1), and back-to-back sweeps over Little Rock (May 6-8) and Troy (May 13-15).
• Coastal is riding an eight-game home winning streak and is 20-6-1 overall at home this season in Springs Brooks Stadium.
• Five Chants in Tyler Johnson (.353), Eric Brown (.313), Graham Brown (.307), Dale Thomas (.296), and Austin White (.294) are all hitting over .290 on the season, while seven different Chants have driven in 30 or more RBIs.
• The Chants' pitching staff has posted a 4.67 ERA on the season and struck out 455 batters over 441.0 innings while also holding the opponents to a .256 batting average.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS
• South Alabama enters the final three games of the regular season at 30-20 overall and 16-11 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• The Jaguars are riding a three-game winning streak overall and are fifth in the Sun Belt Conference standings at 16-11.
• As a team, South Alabama is hitting .296 with 520 base hits on the season, including 42 home runs, 16 triples, and 104 doubles.
• The Jaguars have four players hitting over .300 on the season, led by Miles Simington (.390) and Erick Orbeta (.330), while both Hunter Stokes (.319) and Santi Montiel (.304) are also over .300 at the plate.
• The South Alabama pitching staff has posted a 4.29 ERA on the season and struck out 415 batters over 444.2 innings of work.

ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY WITH SOUTH ALABAMA
• Coastal holds a slight 11-9 advantage over the South Alabama Jaguars in the all-time series, including a 4-2 edge in home contests in Conway.
• However, the Jaguars have won each of the last three meetings between the two teams, including ending the Chants' season last year with a 14-7 win in pool play at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament.

PIVOTAL CONFERENCE SERIES
• With the Sun Belt Conference regular-season schedule ending this week, the Chanticleers' Sun Belt Conference three-game series with South Alabama (May 19-21) is pivotal.
• Coastal enters the week in third place in the regular-season conference standings at 19-7-1 and 3.5 games out of first place.
• However, the Chants are just 0.5 games out of second place and hold the tiebreaker with a series win over the Georgia Southern Eagles who are in second overall.
• With a series win over South Alabama this week, the Chanticleers could at best climb as high as second place in the regular-season standings, but with a series loss could fall to as low as fifth.

I'm hoping for miracles....

TxSt gets some bad gas station sushi, has a three day bout of Montezuma's Revenge, and has to play in between runs (pun intended) to the bathroom. Ga State sweeps for the weekend.

At the same time, Myrtle Beach hosts a stripper convention (that's actually highly probable) and the entire starting rotation and bullpen go on an all weekend bender ala the boys in Varsity Blues and are hung over and stricken with a mysterious rash that allows USA to sweep as well.

GS sweeps their way into the driver's seat and wins the regular season title.

Does how Coastal does affect you if you sweep? You have a half game over them.

No but a couple wins by USA make it easier on us if we do slip up. Plus, who doesn't think a stripper convention in Dirty Myrtle wouldn't be fun?
Conference Champs Baby!!!!
App State has made the Sun Belt Tournament despite losing 14-5 at home to Troy because UTA lost.

Bobcats score 3 in their half of the 8th to overtake Panther, TXST wins 8-7.

USA certainly didn’t help GS tonight. Coastal takes game one 11-2.

Congrats! And keep beating GSU in case we keep losing.

. . . we might be playing a little “hung over” tomorrow . . .

Just once I'd like to see a TXST team not have me on the verge of an anxiety attack.

Worried about that. Our RPI is up to 25. We really need to win this series to keep it up that high. A sweep would do absolute wonders for our RPI but I'll take a series win.
Louisiana is stumbling down the stretch.

Little Rock 2
Louisiana 0
Final

The LR starter was magnificent! Complete game struck out like 13…gotta win the whole damn thing now in Montgomery.
Hayden Arnold is really good. LR is actually really tough on Fridays.

Took us a miracle to pull it out in our Friday matchup with them and Arnold left the game with a lead. We put up 30 the next day...
With Louisiana losing, looks like three bids this year unless they pull off winning the conference championship.

From your lips to Gawd’s ears . . . . may it be so.
We lost big. I stopped checking the score when I pulled it up to see ULM Sacrifice bunting up 7 runs in the 6th.

With that, we're out of the tournament. Season will officially end on Saturday.
