the problem i see with it is

there are two pieces to the rate, a fixed rate and a variable inflation rate
the fixed rate does not change from when the bond is purchased
the variable inflation rate changes every 6 months

the current fixed rate is zero (0.0)
the variable inflation rate is 4.81 (x2)

you have to hold the bond for 1 year
if you hold less than 5 years, there is a 3 month interest rate penalty

there is no state taxes on the interest, but there is federal taxes
