Per the article jobs are plentiful and we simply don't have enough workers

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/marc...-rate-2022

Quote:The Labor Department said Tuesday that 4.5 million Americans, or about 3% of the workforce, quit their jobs in March. That's up from 4.4 million in February and just slightly tops the previous record notched in November. By comparison, pre-pandemic levels typically hovered around 3.6 million.

The data emphasizes how newly empowered workers are quitting their jobs in favor of better wages, working conditions and hours as businesses lure new workers with higher salaries – a new trend dubbed the "Great Resignation." As a result, Americans' incomes are rising across the board as employers have ramped up hiring to offset the losses.

The claim is workers are leaving jobs in droves in favor of better jobs with more pay, better hours, better benefits, etc. Why aren't these (likely small businesses I assume) not able to backfill with new employees? If we do not want to "import" cheap labor by allowing illegals to jump our borders, then we need another comprehensive welfare reform push to force people out of dependency and back into the workforce.

The last time I heard of major welfare reform was when Gingrich forced it onto Clinton. I think GWB and Obama undid most if not all of it - and in particular you have special handouts (beyond stimulus) for workers and employers to get paid to stay home and not hire workers respectively. Not sure if these payouts ceased yet or not.

Yes, that was the most recent “major” reform, and yes, Clinton did have it forced on him, despite his best efforts to prevent it from happening. Congress passed it once and Clinton vetoed it. Congress then made some changes to the bill, designed to make it more appealing to Clinton. He vetoed it again. At that point, Gingrich made the bill significantly “worse” (from the Democrat/Progressive viewpoint) than either of the first two versions, and Congress passed it a third time. By then, it was mid-1996 and Clinton had to choose between standing with his “political base”, or putting his signature on a piece of popular legislation. If you have any idea of what kind of person Clinton is, you know full well which side of the fence he landed on. I still remember the bitter reactions of some left-wing people at Georgia State when he did that.

If you want people to behave in a certain manner, policies should point them in that direction.

Given how the Dems policies are to always give “free” handouts, I can only assume their plan is to dribble out “free” handouts to keep those folks beholden to the great benevolent Democrats………always give them a fish instead of teaching them to fish. Despicable.

Yep. Incentivization. Funny how human nature works.

Let’s see…I can sit on my porch and the government will give me $250 a week, or I can go work for minimum wage (I squandered my education) and tak home about $250/$300. I think I’ll sit on the porch - screw working……..

since Zero took office until #henceDJT, on a daily basis, there's more 'beater tees' hangin' out, and jalopies on the row-adds than I can count on muh fingers and toes x50 here in the 'burg ... both black and whiteys ... *bidet policies are 'burning Rome' more than any of his predecessors...

at this point, the east side is now rivaling TJ (Tijuana) in the fattest/poorest state in the nation ... JXN proper is really fkd ... that joint has turned into li'l chi-town...
