Vote for as many as you believe belong in 64-school premier division.
I voted for everyone outside of BC and UCONN because that was the funniest result for me. Doubt it'll impact the overall poll though, since I don't think either of them (or most of the rest) would be considered anyway.
Why are G5's included in these polls?

Why bother having them at all?

If the poster was looking for some kind of objective manner of grouping, there would be no need for a poll. If you want to do what he seems to want to do, you might as well list all the schools in each given region.

I'm not sure I see the point in the whole exercise myself, but once you decide to do this, it's no more silly to list everyone than to limit the pool to P5.

Some G5s are overall better programs than some P5s.

The competition will be merit-based.

Teams that score more touchdowns (and win games) will do better. Teams that score fewer touchdowns (and lose games) may be relegated, replaced by those from the lower tier who did well.

Schools that have more resources may tend to do better - but that is not an absolute certainty.

An initial message board poll isn't based on merit.

So I guess some kind of relegation plan fixes things in theory going forward (in this world), but you aren't starting there (for what it matters).

An initial message board poll is not unreasonable for a simulation.

Selection of a set of teams will permit demonstration of the competition format.

There is another way to get from here to there, but that can wait.
What do you mean by premier? Schools like UConn, UMass, JMU and Buffalo do not belong at the highest level.
So what's the cutoff looking like it's going to be 25 votes or more?

If that is your opinion don't vote for them. It appears that your opinion is shared by many others.
I voted for what I would say are traditional football programs, playing at the highest level of football since the 1890's and earlier... eight of these programs were in AQ conferences during more modern eras and Army & Navy traditionally played independent schedules and have the prestige of the Army-Navy game to also be included.

ARMY (1890), BOSTON COLLEGE (1893), MARYLAND (1892), NAVY (1879), PENN STATE (1881), PITTSBURGH (1889), RUTGERS (1869), SYRACUSE (1889), TEMPLE (1894), WEST VIRGINIA (1891)

I guess "doing it for a long time" is one definition of "premier."

While that's true, he got us eliminated by saying "highest level of football"

I disagree though. On no planet should BC or Rutgers be considered premier programs. Army and Navy are only there because they're Army and Navy, and not because of anything they've done in the past few decades...I mean really the region has very few teams that could be premier:

Penn State
Pitt
WVU

Maybe arguments could be made for:
Maryland
(lesser extent) Syracuse

The rest, not really.
So it’s basically Penn State and the 14 Dwarfs.

No thanks.

We played at the "highest level of football" back in the day because there was only one division. Check our 1901 profile:

1901 Eastern college football independents records

Yes, I know that. However the word "since" is in there. Meaning his specific requirement was to have been playing at the highest level throughout the time period starting in the late 1800s. We were up at the top level, then we weren't, and now we're back. So we don't meet the requirement.

The problem is with the original premise of the whole project. Once you're past that, UMass, Rutgers, Temple, whomever are all fair game.
