Coach O signs an extension through the 2024-2025 season. I am not sure how I feel about this.....

Part of me was happy, but another part of me is very concerned.
The huge gigantic question mark is whether or not Coach O can take us to the NCAA tournament. Who knows what would have happened in 2019 if the season wasn't cut short.
Since he's received an extension, I will say the things I really like about Coach O. I've met him before and he's a fantastic guy and loves JMU. If you've heard his pressers, it's obvious he's got a high bball IQ and knows his players well. His players seem to really like him too. Also I believe he really wants to be here.
I believe the women's team has the chance to immediately be a contender for the title in the Sun Belt. I would have preferred to see how this year turned out before giving him an extension, but I understand it.
I know last season I was VERY critical of Coach O and even thought he should be fired. Thankfully I'm just a fanatic and my opinion means very little.
Hopefully he can prove that last year was a fluke and the team will be much better this season.

When did his current contract end? An extension out three years is really not a huge one at all so I think based on all information this was a prudent move from a time perspective by JMU. If he had just next year we pretty much had to get rid of him or give him a few years. If we had extended him out to 27 I would say this was not a prudent move financially and there was no need to go out that long.

I got the impression that his current contract was not over. I believe he had at least another year to go in the current contract. I don't think he had more than a year left in his contract.
I agree that an extension through 27 would have been too much.
He certainly hasn't been a terrible coach by any means.
One of the biggest concerns about him was something he imposed on himself. He said the program would not take a step back once Kenny left, but I think it could be argued that it has taken a step back as the team has yet to make the NCAAs or win a conference championship under Coach O. If not for the NIT success, the program would have taken a pretty big step back.
I still have some faith in Coach O, but will admit it's a bit faltering. I expect this team to be quite good next year. If they are not, I am not sure the extension will look so good.
An extension was needed for recruiting purposes, and Sean deserves the opportunity to prove himself in the SBC. That said, he still has a great deal to prove because of the losing record last year, and his failure to take the program to the NCAAT. I’d say Sean now has 2 years. His seat is warm.
I saw on another board that there was a posting for an AC again. Was this a mistake, or has someone else left? (If so, I hope it's Coach Sammy, I haven't thought much of her abilities, and with a new baby she may not want to travel so much anyway.)
Unsure if we have an opening or not but the other day JMUWBB instagram posted with 3 assistant coaches in the picture watching one of our incoming freshmen play for Team Canada…Prahalis not pictured.
Confirmed by Shane on Twitter - Samantha is out. Brand new assistant coaching staff next year. Cooper-Williams acting AC until the position is filled.
Never did think that much of her as a guard coach. The guards did better without her. I hope the next one is better since we have a bona fide PG coming in Chloe Sterling. I miss Coach Langford. She did a great job with the guards and she seems to be getting things done up at Stony Brook.
Pretty strong improvement for the JMU coaching staff this year. Kudos Coach O and team! Now go get that first tourney win!

How many Tourney wins in our history? I do believe there's a real shot to grab a couple.

I think getting a win is going to be tough.

Looking at NET I think at best we get a 13 seed and that is going to give us a tough game. If we play like we did against Marshall and Texas State we have a chance play like we did against ODU and we are toast.

8, per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Madi...basketball

Kenny Brooks's one win was in 2014, 1991 before that.

If they really paid attention to NET, LSU would not get a higher seed than Tennessee, who played the toughest schedule in the country. But they don't. They only look at W-L. The committee talks out of one side of their mouths and seeds with the other. So we'll probably get a 13 instead of the 12 Charlie Creme gave us last time I looked.

Speculation is JMU gets seeded as a 13, and pulls Villanova as a first round opponent. If that turns out to be true JMU has an opportunity to advance if they play like they did against TXST. Can’t play scared, and must shoot well.
On a side note congrats to Bridgette Mitchell former Dukes assistant coach who was named CAA Coach of the Year as Head Coach at Northeastern.

If our opponent doesn't have someone very big and/or strong to keep Kozlova from pushing defenders around then I always feel pretty decent about our chances. Then of course there's always the chance of Kiki and/or Peyton shooting anywhere from pretty hot to on fire and I'd like our chances against a 3, 4, or 5 seed if at least one does.

ESPN's bracketology projects 4 seed Villanova vs 13 seed JMU, Villanova has a 6'4" center but she doesn't really play. Seems like 6'2" Christina Dalce would probably be the one trying to stop Ksyusha if that's the matchup. The biggest concern would be stopping 28.9 PPG Maddy Siegrist though.
Anyone know when this matchup in Philly might occur? I’m trying to be there but have some work conflicts around that time.

First round is March 17 and 18, second round 19 and 20. I'm hoping to make it too, if it does end up being Philly I think we should be able to.

St Patty's day in Philly could be fun. Is there a good list of all the host sites? This is what I've seen so far:
