The signing period starts in mid April. Wouldn't it be great if the staff felt that this was the answer to our 2022 backup and future five problem....and he signs? The fact that's he's on an official visit means we're really interested. Then we could focus on finding a PG.

I’ve heard from a good source that NU isn’t seeking a PG and that the staff is very confident and excited with Chase running the point.
They’re looking for a big and shooting guards.

I hope that your source is wrong. Point guards are born....not made. Last year our best option was to have SG play the point. How did that work out? Cormier played the two in high school. I would much rather have a guy with a long record of ballhandling and passing skills. It just seems to me that with Troutman and Cormier coming in shooting guard is not a big need.

He’s a combo guard. He has handle and from the videos I’ve seen he can handle the duties. He’s not Shaq playing the point.
Troutman is not a good shooter. At least not now. He’s more of an Occeus type when Shawn was a freshman. He can create his own shot, but not much of a consistent outside threat.

I hope so because in high school he didn't play the point even when the starting PG left the game.
With Djogo signing a pro contract he is now officially off our roster. Our VC page hill soon show ten scholarship players so as of now we have three openings.

Northeastern gets a '22 commit from 6'11" big man Collin Metcalf of Mercersburg Academy. Congrats to Collin!

It's hard to come to any conclusions based solely on highlight reels but it's obvious that he runs the floor well and rhat he's a rim protector. We really needed a guy to come in for Chris when he's injured or in foul trouble and if the coaches think Collin is the guy then that's good enough for me. Now, if we can sign a proven point guard then I'll be a happy camper.
I don’t think Metcalf is an immediate guy to come off the bench to give Doherty a rest. I think he’s a bit of a project. Not a total one. That’s based on the level of competition he’s played against. But you cant reach height and athleticism, and that’s what he had right now.
You’re probably not going to be a happy camper because again, I’ve heard they’re looking for shooting.
Cormier, Troutman, Turner and Metcalf is our future core.

Yeah. I'm hoping that Chris stays healthy and Collin's minutes slowly build. His defense might get him more time than we think. On the PG thing I would okay with a true combo guard, meaning someone who has actually played the point.

Cormier is a combo guard. I’m told the staff is quite okay with him a PG.

Don't get me wrong....I'm not saying Cormier can't play PG but anyone can call themselves a combo guard. Some of them haven't actually played PG. That is the category Cormier falls into. I'm just saying that going forward I'd rather bring in combos that have actually run a team and let them contend for the PG spot.
