With NIL is there a need to rush when you can develop another year in college?? Maybe he doesn’t have a lot of guidance with NIL, I’m sure he could make enough to help his family an keep him out of A ****** league. Think draft grade, workouts and evaluation is what he’s looking for. No need for him to take a second round or FA contract after two years in college with NIL.

A Toledo business should pony up then. Make the dudes and gals not even question it.

Mark sears commits to alabama!

This is interesting, considering his struggles vs. all the top MAC teams in the league. One caveat, however, is he will be surrounded by better players meaning he won't be the hard focus. Except as the PG, you are always the focus.

Sears is from Alabama so maybe it was the appeal of playing for the Big Home State University who has had recent success in the NCAA Tournament that was the deciding factor in where he ended up.

Maddox Jr is a question mark with the way his Sophomore year turn out, hedge on him returning to his freshmen form? I wouldn't count on the returning guards other than Dennis to be big contributors.

While the deadline to pull out of the NBA Draft is June 1st, I don't think there is any doubt that TK holds on to Rollins scholarship until a final decision has been made similar to how he handled M. Jackson's flirtation with the NBA a few years ago. The positives of doing this certainly outweigh the negatives as we all know what Rollins can bring to the team next season vs. replacing him with an unknown at this juncture in time!
G League average salary is $37,000 a year. Guys who get a 10 day call up contract earn about $70,000 just for that. 2nd round picks are not guaranteed any contract. About half usually get a deal and there are no restrictions, although it's usually a 1 or 2 year deal for about $1,000,000 a year.

I don't know Rollins exact family situation but he's from a middle class area and has a stable family with 2 sons in college. I don't think a G League contract is worth rushing into professionalism. This is about being an NBA player. As I've said since that first 3 game season opening tourney at Xavier last year, Rollins is an NBA player. It's just a question of when. My hunch has always been that after his 3rd year his stock would peak and he'd be ready and go in the 1st round. However, he got hot in scouting circles last season and has moved into most projections as a 2nd round pick. The big question is how much he impresses in workouts and combines and if he moves into 1st round range, holds as a 2nd rounder or slips into marginal 2nd rounder/undrafted territory. Sounds like he's gone if he's projected as a 1st rounder-why not? But is 50/50 on if he'd come back if teams project him as a 2nd round pick.

Above is a thorough analysis of Rollins' game.
And what to hell do we posters know on this site, goes to show you those college TV basketball commentators don't even know about Rollins yet. Also, all about the lack of the MAC not promoting their star product. Although I wish he would return one more season with the Rockets, I do think he can be replace with another MAC type level guard. I do love Ray J Dennis's game.

Why? There's next to no market permeation with UT athletes even in the local market, so it isn't worth it for those companies to do anything like that here. There are no boosters here wealthy enough to just cut a check for no reason other than making the team better like at some of the crazy schools and outside of this board and others like it, very few people would be able to pick Rollins out of a lineup of two.

NIL is an arms race, and UT (and MANY other schools) are walking into a nuclear war with Nerf guns.
Maybe he declared too late but I don't see Ryan Rollins on any of the rosters for this week ends PORTSMOUTH INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT APRIL 13-16. Jamal Cain from Oakland, Jeenathan Williams from Buffalo and Jacob Gilyard from Richmond will be there. If he is hoping to be selected in the 1st or 2nd round of the NBA draft this seems like an important showcase.

Portsmouth has become the place for marginal NBA draft picks to promote themselves and move into the 2nd round. It used to be an important showcase as you said, but now none of the likely 1st rounders attend and you get some marginal 2nd round picks and other guys trying to make the G League or a summer league squad.

I did see that ESPN's mock draft does not have Rollins. Really gonna come down to his indy and 2 on 2 workouts with teams and the combine. If he shows out there he probably gets some guarantees from GMs and stays in the draft. If he struggles a bit he probably comes back.

Come on you guys should know this that invitational is primarily for seniors
And mostly 2 round guys
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/draft/prospect-rankings/ Cbs has rollins rated as the #21 prospect, the NBA wants rollins bad, he has real nba intangibles and we have to stop with this notion that he’s not ready, I’ve stated time and time again that the nba drafts on potential, nobody is expecting rollins to come in an be a immediate contributor on a team. I think teams are going to be patient with him, I think in 2 or 3 years rollins has a chance to be a really good nba player. The kid is only 19 and younger than most of the one and dones this year, teams know that. Rather rollins returns or stays in the draft im rooting for him
Correction the invitational is ONLY for seniors, was marreon listed??

AHA! Good point 03-lmfao

Marreon's not on the roster.
A lot of complicated thought to the potential paths I imagine. Detroit Mercy' Davis (23yr) portaling instead of declaring and he's a very high scorer. A bit of time outside Dad's shadow I imagine.

good for him. i always wondered how he'd look on a good team somewhere else.
Latest mock drafts have Ryan around the 40th pick, with Bleacher Report having him at 42, to the Knicks, and NBADraft.net having him at 40 to the Timberwolves. These are all obviously very preliminary as the official process has not started yet, but interesting benchmarks nonetheless. Another interesting note; Ryan attended the first game of the first round matchup between the Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, as shown via his Instagram story. Not sure if he has any real connections to Dallas other than being a prospect they may be interested in, so it may have been an invite? Just hypothesizing, encouraging stuff regardless.
Ryan is as good as gone, good pickups (guards) by TK, God I wish he would get another big man, freshman or a transfer with more than 1 year to play. Why I do I think TK has something under his sleeve that he is being close mouth about in regards to a big man?

In a Detroit News article today quoting his Dad, the 2 main reasons his son's hitting the portal is the potential to make a lot of NIL money at a Power 5 Program and to play in a "big time environment" unlike he has experienced over his 4 year career playing at Calihan Hall. While Mike Davis was shocked about his son's decision, he understands why he has decided to transfer.
