NU hits the road to start of league play when the visit Charleston for a 3-game series.

Charleston has some very good wins last week, beating #2 Texas in Charleston and winning 2 out of 3 from East Carolina.

Big opening series…
I hope this isn't a rude awakening that we aren't as good as we thought.. tough weekend.
NU in their last home weekend of the season, opened by beating Charleston 9-2 this afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

Head Coach Mike Glavine has his first 40-win season.

3B Danny Crossen went 3-for-4, RBI, 1B Tyler MacGregor went 2-for-5, with a solo HR and CF Mike Sirota went 2-for-4, RBI, 2R.

Starter Aiven Cabral went 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 unearned runs, with 4 K to up his record to 8-3.

The two teams are back on the field Friday at 1pm. The game is on NESN.

NU won its sixth consecutive home series today, beating CofC 5-1 at Friedman Diamond.

Starter Eric Yost was the story, pitching 8 innings, allowing just 2 hits and a solo homer in the 1st inning. He walked one and struck out 7.

1B Tyler McGregor went 3-for-3, with a go-ahead solo HR, with 3R. LF Alex Lane went 2-for-4, with 2 doubles, 2 RBI.

The two teams finish the series and the regular season Saturday. The game time has been moved up to 11 am.

NU lost the final game of the series to CofC 9-2, giving up 4 homers.

Starter Wyatt Scotti didn’t have it early in this one, pitching just 1.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, 6 ER. Reliever Patrick Harrington wasn’t much better, giving up 4 hits and 3 ER. Both pitcher gave up 2 homers apiece.

Mike Sirota and Tyler McGregor hit solo homers.

The loss was big, as Elon, by percentage points, finished head of NU and is now the 2nd seed. While UNCW swept W&M to finish 1st and win the regular season title. NU is now the 3rd seed and will play Wednesday instead of getting a bye as a top 2 seed.

NU’s finishes the regular season 41-12, the best season in program history. With the loss, their RPI fell from 27 before the game to 31 currently. So they’re still in good standing right now.

The CAA Tournament begins Wednesday. #3 NU will face #6 W&M at 4 pm. #4 CofC will face #5 Delaware at 12 pm.
