Record-Courier, which I believe is a partner or may even be owned by the Beacon-Journal is never ever EVER going to do or print anything to jeopardize any advertising revenue. Allen is a good dude and a good writer and I just don’t think it’s in his nature to break that kind of news before a game.

They are both owned by the USA Today publisher as are many newspapers around the country.
The HIPPA laws don’t help either. You know it’s terrible if a basketball players twisted ankle becomes public. I understand what the HIPPA laws are for and they were not passed to give the coaches a good excuse to cover up minor sports related injuries. Like the NHL with it’s he’s out with an upper body injury??? That could be anything from a sore rib to a heart attack.

He’s probably on Twitter as he seems to have become the Tweeter-in-Charge, so I’m guessing he probably runs his department by email too. Being the face of the department shouldn’t mean you sit on the couch and tweet out like a cheerleader piggybacking any other tweet about something going on.

That’s a great point. Even though HIPPA has seemed to disappear (or not matter) over the last two years, it sure would seem to be an awfully convenient reason for coaches and sports information directors to hide behind.

True, and for a guy still settling into his position I guess I expected so much more as it’s been underwhelming so far. I’ve said it before, but I’m sure in the interview process he had to lay out his vision, so for whatever it was it certainly couldn’t have been what we’re seeing. And if it is, I’m wondering just how much less he’ll do once he’s fully settled into his gig.

We live in the golden age of s#it media coverage. Not any individual's problem, more of a systemic thing. 20-25 years ago everything was hidden behind a pay wall... It was called buying a newspaper. The fact that a ton of coverage became free online probably significantly hurt that industry. As newspapers decline it's easily backfilled with online options for sports and programs that a lot of people care about... because there's advertising money there. We haven't seen an option pop up that fills the void left for small time sports like MAC basketball. I don't know jacked s#it about Allen Moff other than the fact that it's definitely not his fault. My opinion is the school has to step up and provide an option. Although you gotta worry that everything will be heavily biased making it not worth much, so I don't know what the solution is. Much like most problems today, it's complex without an obvious answer but it doesn't stop people from angrily yelling "fix it".
Second, we should try to keep politics out of it. Not just this thread but one last week politics creeped in. If you want to s#it on a politician that isn't on the team you've sworn your fandom to you can find a billion places on the internet to do it. This is the one corner of the internet I visit that I can not deal with that crap and just argue about sports such as debating topics with fallsdog like it a 4 is too stretch or not too stretch enough. Now I'm going to go back to drinking and watching entirely too much basketball.
