Lahkin staying per Twitter

I still think the real movement will come from the pg spot. It’s the place needs to upgrade badly.
Glad Vik is staying, didn't really think he'd leave, but injuries plus the Russia/Ukraine situation were somewhat of a concern. He has the most potential of anyone on the team (the only one who is arguably close is Hensley).

At this point it seems to be down to MAW, Saunders and DDJ and I don't think it's going to be MAW. One of those three is probably leaving, everyone else is staying. McGinnis (who confirmed he is staying via instagram PM if you believe some random guy on BCJ) and Lakhin were the two biggest other question marks. MAW/Saunders are probably waiting on DDJ's decision, since if he leaves they stay.
Could it possibly be the same gang with the exception of Ado, Kovol and Madsen? Yeesh.

I think we still some movement from the guard spot. I still think the real key is getting a big man with multiple years and making sure the staff has enough open scholarships in 23 to land a few top targets.

This team isn’t that far from being an NIT team but I want this staff to cash in on 23 completely upgrade the talent.
If Vic, Ody, Hensley and Davenport are your primary 4 & 5 minute eaters next year, this team is going to blow.

Reed will be a 4 in smaller lineups, but a freshman. We have to bring in a big who can start and go 26-28 minutes a game.
lot of basketball to be played rath
Reed isn’t a 4. He’s a 3 who can drop down on switches. Think Rashad Bishop.

Of course, Davenport isn’t a 4 either he is just too slow of foot to play the 3.

No. Bishop was an elite defensive wing with rare lateral mobility. At this stage in his development Reed is a mismatch 4 on offense and also most equipped to guard the 4 with his natural instincts and strong frame. There is potential to develop into a 3 over time, but his current profile is a small ball 4 on both ends...
Here is hoping he can be that 3. I like what I’ve seen and he does remind me of Bishop in HS.

I wish I agreed because I LOVED watching Bishop play. I see very few similarities in their game at the same stage...

Obviously this isn't a *current* comparison, but I have his ceiling comp as a player at poor man's Jason Maxiell games seem somewhat similar to me from what I've watched. Off or no?

Reed is much more skilled as a scorer, but there are some similarities on defense. Not near the shot blocking presence, but knows how to defend on a level similar to a young Max...

Good news on the offensive side...hop he can give us a solid 15-18 mpg by the end of next year.

I'd be amazed if we bring in a 25+ minute per game big man.

Davenport and Hensley should both average around 20 minutes (though Hensley will probably play some/most of his minutes at the 3), Reed should get 5-10 at the 4. Ody/Lakhin should be at least 10 minute per game guys and hopefully will be up closer to 15-20, though either could see some minutes at the 4 as well. We do want another center in case of injury/foul trouble, but it's probably not going to be a veteran center. It will be a (probably younger) guy who can compete for minutes, but is okay with ending up on the bench if Ody/Lakhin both develop well. My guess would be a big, strong freshman/sophomore since Ody is on the small side for a center. I'd be willing to bet that either Ody or Lakhin will be next years starting center.

Players develop, especially big men. There is plenty of potential in Ody and Lakhin to be high quality starters. They haven't had a full off-season with Wes to gain experience in his system. By next season they should be much improved.
He’s likely to get decent minutes regardless of whether he plays like a true freshman or not. We are desperate for he and Skilings to be home run recruits out of the gate. Not many Gary Clarks around, though.
Is the 7 foot kid from Hamilton High a 22 0r 23 recruit? Which ever he is he's probably very raw.
Didn't I see something about Banks throwing his name into the portal as well?
