Well, the spring game is tomorrow. Weather (probably snow) will be a factor, so attendance will probably be low. Will be streamed on the tribe website.

Couple storylines:

first team QB reps? I expect it to be Darius, but who knows how many reps Hollis gets.

RBs: obviously our deepest group on offense. Lester, Imoh, Yoder all contributed last season, but it’s obvious Lester separated himself before injury at the end of last season.

WRs. Caylin Newton will be a starting WR, but what about guys like Oedekoven and Everson?

OL: I assume Grant replaces Trainer, but what about Evers and Ripley?

DL: losing Kiely hurts, but who steps up? a lot of young guys there and on the edges.

LBs and DBs seem to be the strength of the defense with Watkins, Jones, Pius, Poole, Haynes, Yip, Barnes and Herdman.

Starting OL right now is likely LT- Grant, LG- Haigler, C- Francois, RG- Crowell, RT- Sorsdal.

Haynes is not returning but other experienced guys coming back include Kevin Jarrell at OLB, Imari Smith and Jaedon Joyner at CB, Tye Freeland, Malcolm Spencer and David Roulley at Safety. LBs are deep with Alex Washington, Quinn Osborne and Brayden Staib experienced. Expect much from Davin Dzidzienyo on the DL. Good depth there with experienced backups Evan DeBuglio, Sammy Sarantis and Mike Malone.
I want to see how Martin Lucas does and how many snaps he's going to get in the backfield in the fall. I really liked Kendrick last year, but he's got a lot of other players in the RB room. I'm also interested to see if any players change positions. Also hoping we build some plays around Lachlan Pitts. He seemed like a crazy weapon in a couple of games before he hurt his sternum. Can't wait for the fall.
Why not reschedule the game for Sunday?

I’m hearing the opponent wouldn’t agree to the switch

Tree fell on some cars right in front of the Laycock center, probably would cause a delay.
No QB, again, voted team captain

They're both Sophomores next year.
Mathis is going to be a senior academically, but a junior eligibility wise.

I'm unsure if he has 2 or 3 years to play. Only appearing in 4 games last Fall qualified for a redshirt.
He's listed as a junior on the roster. I thought it was three games to redshirt, but I could definitely be wrong about that.
I believe he has 3 years left.

2019- Regular year, was our starter for majority of games, might’ve missed one or two due to shoulder injury.

2021- Spring: played in 3 games, and hurt his shoulder again, but as we know, it did not count towards eligibility.

2021- Fall: played in 4 games, redshirted as he was still not 100% from his spring shoulder injury.

2022: This is his junior year on the roster, but his roster bio says he redshirted in the fall, so he has 3 years of eligibility left.
So it will be interesting to see how Hollis plays this out. He will either win the starting job or he won't, but unless he somehow got way behind in school, he will graduate in May of 2023. I can't see him or Wilson sitting on the bench for the next three years. Both are too talented from what I've seen. Maybe I'm a Pollyanna on this, but I think Wilson showed a lot in some games last year, and Mathis was magic when his shoulder was all in one piece during his freshman year.
Was the game played?

If so, how did the team look?

Count down to first game at Charlotte in September
Go read the article on the Tribe website. It gives you the run down. Very limited roster, no big hitting, etc. I watched part of it and I couldn't draw any real conclusions.
