I've seen a lot of confusion on here surrounding this, so I thought it would be good for some clarification.

It's Sun Belt, not Sunbelt. Sun Belt, with a space between the two words. Or SBC, if that's easier!

This is not the Sunbelt.


This is the Sun Belt.

Somebody needs to get Sunbelt Rentals on the phone and sell them on a major sponsorship of the League. It's a no-brainer!

There is also the Sun Belt, the region of the country south of the 37th parallel.

That Sunbelt rentals sign is epic!

Nah, the Sun Belt is now a strong brand. It's not 2009 anymore. It's not the Belch. Heads are turning and people are impressed. At least one Belt team has finished ranked three years in a row. Three schools moved to the Belt from another FBS league. "Sun Belt" is a brand of strength now.

I'm fine with SBC, too, but "Sun Belt" is working.

I say SBC like 9 times out 10 now, mainly because the league's official primary logo has rebranded to SBC. It's on our fields, jerseys, and courts now. We are the SBC. I think the SEC still had Southeastern Conference in their primary logo as well for a while before reverting back to the retro iteration of just "SEC". I like the shortened acronym only branding in both cases.

No doubt and I too agree it’s not 2009. Nothing wrong with saying Sun Belt Conference…I just personally feel now is the time to strike with the branding of SBC.

Same here. At first I received curious looks but over the last few months it’s not lost on anyone.

I can see that argument if the conference is going to move toward SBC branding. Overall, though, I do think the Sun Belt brand is plenty strong right now. Those who were paying close enough attention to "look down" on the Belt are probably watching closely enough to see how the conference has risen, and there's a whole group of fans out there who are just getting to know the conference now with the recent football success. (Hope we can get a few more MBB tourney wins in the coming years to build that side of the brand back up as well.)

Hey, just wanted to clear up: I wasn't intending to be snarky towards you when I said it isn't 2009. Of course you know what year it is. What I meant is that the national perception is almost 100% different from what it was 12 or 13 years ago. The SB is widely regarded for being right in the mix for top G5 along with the MW and new AAC. No one besides maybe jealous Tech fans or pompous new AAC schools call us the Belch.
