I guess I should start some kind of thread since hoops has a game today in the tournament.

How bad of a season has this has been? NU didn’t have ONE player on any All-CAA teams, not even the academic one…

We’ve had a few mediocre to bad seasons in the past, but at least managed to have someone on this teams.

Honestly, I think we’ll win today, but I hope that’s it.

J-E-T-S… just end the season.
Its been a really depressing season. Loss after loss, new transfers I never felt too connected to, and me not subscribing to Flo sports was just too much for me. Not used to this kind of season. Maybe I've taken success for granted too much in the past.
ESPN says you are favored by 7. KenPom expects you to win 68-62.

The other team not to have anybody on the First, Second, or Third Team was W&M, who had two players on the Rookie Team.
18-17 at halftime vs W&M lol
One half of March Sadness in the books with NU up 18-17 despite shooting 21% from the field (W&M is 24%). It's been a whole 3 weeks since I said it (call it self growth) but I truly can't believe we are this bad 30 games into the year. Not in my absolute wildest dreams. League bylaws dictate somoene must advance tonight.
You have as many rebounds as points, and W&M has 5 more rebounds than points. Strong scored 8, and five players scored 2. I wonder when the last time any team led at halftime with only one player scoring more than 2. Djogo shot 0-6 and made 2 free throws. W&M had 1 assist and 9 turnovers. Doherty and Telfort blocked 2 shots, Emanga blocked 1, and you blocked as many shots as field goals you allowed.

Edit: Walters, Djogo, Connor Kochera, and Julian Lewis are the players who attempted at least 8 field goals so far. They combined to shoot 6-39 (.154). Everybody else combined to shoot 21-46 (.457).

Edit: You came back to win 68-63 in overtime. Doherty shot 10-10, and shot 20-20 in three games against W&M. Coen became the first coach to win 19 CAA Tournament games, as he broke a tie with George Mason's Jim Larranaga.
A semi-competitive game broke out late. Anyway, nice to at least make it to Sunday. 10 more wins to the title
Emanga became your first player to have no made field goals and at least 10 rebounds since Reggie Spencer on December 22, 2013.
NU has played pretty well against Towson. I still think we’ll lose, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this one comes down to the wire with us having a chance for the upset.

I hope you are right but I'd be stunned if we are in this game late 2nd half (say within 8 or fewer at the under 8 timeout). This is the ultimate "if not here, where and if not now, when" moment for Towson and they seem to taking care of business in a very workmanlike fashion since that hiccup in Boston.

I love optimists but I'm with you on this one. At gametime we will be sixteen hours removed from eking out an OT win over one of the worst five teams in division one basketball....a team with four D1 wins.
https://caasports.com/news/2022/3/5/mens...nship.aspx says Doherty had the second most makes without a miss a CAA Tournament history. The only player with more was the best player in CAA history, Navy's David Robinson, who shot 12-12 in 1985. Robinson had 2,669 points and 1,314 rebounds, which are still CAA records.

Towson is trying to tie their team record with 25 wins.

W&M is very bad, but not in the bottom five. W&M is 340th (19th to last) in the NET, 340th in the RPI, 336th (23rd to last) in the Sagarin, and 341st (18th to last) in KenPom. The CAA is good enough that their schedule makes them be better than teams with more wins. For example, in KenPom they're 1 spot above New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), who has ten Division I wins.
Hmmmmm
I was wrong. It was a very good effort and we fought back even at the end. In fact, the effort was better towards the end of the year stating with the game at Hofstra...we just weren't nearly good enough. I'd love to say it's been fun. See you all in the transfer portal
You led 18-8 and led a majority of the first half. Towson took the lead with 19:38 left, and by 13:35 left they led by 12. They went up 11 with 5:54 left, but you went on a 10-0 run to go down 58-57 with 2:02 left. You had a three go in and out, and did not make a three in the second half. Towson won 68-61. Towson was favored by 11, and entered only 10.43 better in the Sagarin. Compare that to the 1 vs. 8 game in the Summit League yesterday (it has ten teams like the CAA), where South Dakota State (one of two teams to go undefeated in conference) was favored by 22 and beat Omaha by 8. CAA games don't have big favorites.
Tough one, but obviously this season has been a train wreck and I had no false hopes about it. This is a tough spot for our program.
Coen is always been in Pat Skerry’s head, so I was pretty sure we’d have a chance for the upset in this one. But honestly they should have beaten NU like a drum all year and they didn’t.

Anyway, so glad this disaster of a season is over.

Should be an extremely interesting off season…

Let's hope so.
