Down on Highway 49 (about 3 miles from where I lived, and Stink probably remember it as well..), there used to be a salvage yard that was FILLED with Russian military and automotive equipment.

He'd get it from all sorts of locations, including just individual tourings of countries, if he found something, he'd go through appropriate local govt channels, and ask what it would cost to take it.

Most of the time, it was "take it please"! He'd load it up and bring it home...

I want to say he had one or two tanks (maybe APC's) in the collection, but mostly old Russian Jeeps and such..
