Other than ETSU (GO BUCS!),

who you pickin'?

FANDUEL ODDS BELOW:

Furman +190

Chattanooga +210

Wofford +420

UNC-Greensboro +800

Samford VMI +1900

Mercer +2600

ETSU +2700

VMI +3500

The Citadel +13000

Western Carolina +25000
I'd bet UTC as a big bet, and a couple small safety bets on VMI and Samford. I think VMI and Samford have value at those odds, and Wofford might be the worst bet on the board at only 420.
Recently, Oliver was interviewed by Kenny Hawkins of WJHL, and he stated that when he was at Georgia, they had exactly the same situation: 6 guys, last place in the SEC, and yet won the tournament. I haven't researched it to verify that, but I'm pretty sure that's what he said. Sounds pretty ridiculous, tho.
Yes, what a run. Last place, #6 seed in East
Won first game at the Georgia Dome.
But roof issues due to possible tornado that evening forced a venue change
Moved to GA Tech home court to finish event
Had to defeat Kentucky and Mississippi State on the same day
Won over Arkansas on last day
Let’s just get the season over.

And was it also true that they only had 6 players available?
If you look at the box score, GA had at least 7 “available” for the championship game, and the roster included some serious size—2 players at/over 6’10 250. The 6th man appeared to be J. Price at 6-8 270. A 7th player saw 10 mins action. Two others checked in briefly. So, no, whether you consider the 8th and 9th players to have been viable contenders or not, there was some form of a roster and bench to put up a fight. Stark contrast to ETSU’s small ball 6-man lifeboat.

I don’t read much into Oliver’s comparison of the 2007-2008 SEC championship team to ETSU’s struggle. Grasping at straws, not trying to be a defeatist—that’s all. Chattanooga has easily taken care of business twice against ETSU—the recent game at Freedom Hall was at best a moral victory for not giving it up. ETSU does not have the size or roster to do 4 games in 4 days! I hope I eat crow!

Ignoring the rest of the season, I will consider it another moral victory if ETSU can beat The Citadel and put on a tough fight against Chattanooga this weekend. Beyond that, pinch me.
Did look at tournament box scores they played 9-10 players.

Pretty sure Shampoo started his post off with.

If you look at boxscore...

So I am going to say yes, yes he did. because the rest of the paragraph talks about what was in the boxscore.
Referring to all 4 UGA tournament box scores.
Nevertheless..........................against extremely formidable odds...................some things are possible. So Oliver's statement, which I'm sure the players can double check if they choose to, is a valid encouragement. They all know the odds are heavily stacked against them. "That's why they play the games."
Knocking Chattanooga out sure would feel great!
UTC wins this tournament. Furman always chokes this time of the year.

Or pulling for them NOW since they’re the best representative of the Southern Conference this year.

I think Furman finally figures it out this year and wins it.
Samford lost the 2nd half by 20 points, but still beat UNCG by 2. Wild game.

Furman looks really good, but I’d say UTC has the easier path.

So many empty seats - where are the Furman folks? Where were the Wofford folks earlier. Of course UTC and Samford have so distances to deal with. But, Wofford and Furman? Sort of an ugly sight.
66- This is normal. I have repeatedly pointed out the lack of interest in the SoCon. You saw it on the ESPN+ games. Most teams are lucky to get 1000-1500 fans for a regular season game. ETSU fans have packed the tournament. Without ETSU, well you said it, 'where's the fans'.

130-43 from 2015-2020 and some good ol days in Asheville. That could be the norm or better for ETSU in this SoCon IF WE COULD AFFFORD IT. My, my - the agony of being a mid-major and the short runs of glory which is insufficient for the coaches involved when the MONEY is put on the table.
