This game starts a 2 game stretch of homecomings for Coach Byington.
First he will return to Charleston for the first time as a head coach after being an assistant there for many years. Then on Saturday he will return to Wilmington as a head coach for the first time since playing there.
It seems that he would have played both of them by now with so many years being at Georgia Southern in close proximity.

It probably won’t mean anything to the players, but you have to imagine he will have some memories coming back to life when he gets in town.

Since these two teams last played, JMU has been in a tailspin going 2-6 and CoC has been piling up wins against the weaker teams in the CAA going 5-2 since then.

I expect to see the same type of game in the rematch, but not quite as high scoring since the defense isn’t playing an aggressive full court trap anymore. CoC rules the boards again and has the advantage of home court. Hopefully JMU doesn’t allow the Australian guy to rain 3’s again. That is all he does. Put somebody up in his grill and force/allow him to dribble drive.

I was at the first game, and there were many threes that they took that were contested. CoC was just draining them. I did think they could have done more to prevent him from taking those threes, but gotta credit the guy for hitting them.
If CoC shoots like they did the last time we faced them, I think we have no chance. If the shots aren't landing, then I think we have a chance.

we don't have the depth to score 85 points
the stumble to the finish line continues...CoC 79-74.
82 - 66 CoC
That you have the stomach to think/talk about this game says something about your intestinal fortitude. This team is gutwrenching to watch.

My default response has become "loss."

Gotta hope we can really outshoot them because we're probably gonna get bullied inside again. Don't love our chances in this one.

Bart Torvik has JMU as underdogs the rest of the way, but winning one more game. Perhaps this is it? Not optimistic, but you never know. Hopefully, Byington learns from this season going forward.

Man oh man, these refs are really making Byington's point for him.

Streaming the audio while I do other things, and yeah, you know how Dave Thomas used to work himself into a frenzy so by the end of the game, he was calling out refs every time down the court? Riggert is kind of doing that now, but sounds much more level headed doing it so I tend to believe him. Also, Riggert doesn't usually get to that point, so something must be up.

He also called out the team's body language in the last game and the muffed passes our bigs have had on passes underneath. I'm actually pretty impressed with his call.

Charleston commentators calling them bad calls even.

Edit: Oh and yeah it's not often I'm able to listen but not watch so I don't end up hearing our radio guys often but when I did listen for the UNH football game I really enjoyed Riggert.
Sule had a little post spin move and leaned into the contest on his jumper to draw a foul, it's clear by the last few games that Byington is emphasizing FT trips for the bigs and it seems that they are picking up on it quickly as they've gotten more aggressive there.
JMU up 60-56 with 4:30 to go, I've been very impressed with Terrence Edwards' progression from the start of his freshman year. Him and Amadi will make a fun core for the future.
Nice road win, Dukes!
Duuuuuuuuuuukes!!!!
Apparently, after the last game, By called out the team's recent efforts and flat out challenged them to step the defensive intensity and toughness again. The team responded. This is a great sign- something not many past JMU coaches could not have pulled off.
Good win.
Excellent. The team showed character tonight.
Always a good night when the Dukes get a win. Nice game fellas!
