...but I was talking with an administrator today. He says he believes it is doubtful our newcomers will be playing in the Sun Belt next season.

He's the first person with a clue I've heard say this, and I must admit I was surprised.

He did not elaborate.
I would think JMU will be here at the very least

Now's not the time for negativity BoP.
I mean Marshall and App would be out on scheduling JMU. Would that change JMUs stance
JMU could still get 8 Belt teams on the schedule. We would just go with 11 teams next year. I still am confident all 14 will be here next year but the clock is ticking and it needs to be done before much longer

Marshall would, App wouldn't. JMU would be a conference game for App.
I guess we'll find out tomorrow. But who knows?
Ugh, what changed from last week to this week? I thought this move was locked up.

CUSA trying to screw us on the way out?

That seems like the best guess to me. An update from JMU's side of it:

So seems like at the beginning of the month JMU expected a quick wham bam formality of a meeting before talking to the press about the schedule and everything, now some "loose ends" to deal with.

Edit: Oops, just saw this was in the other thread, catching up on stuff after being gone all day for the Caps game yesterday. Oh well, seems relevant here too.
Nothing like a dead year in CUSA where everyone hates you and you have zero interest in being there. Of course Texas and OU are doing multiple years of that in the Big XII.

What’re the odds JMU still plays SBC football, even if the CUSA 3 don’t end up coming early?

It would probably just be a Frankenstein transition schedule where you pick up a few games where possible and then oly sports are full SBC.

Or maybe you play a full SBC football schedule and just can't compete for the title. That is what UCA did when they joined the SLC and then they ended up winning conference and TXST was the runner up and competed in the playoffs.
Of course CUSA sits on their thumbs until 6 days before a sure fire vote and throws a wrench in the works.

Are we sure LaTech's admins didn't commandeer CUSA HQ and pull these strings? It reflects their modus operandi.
No. This is the leadership model we've talked about.
I'm totally fine with a partial SB/FBS schedule next year rather than ever playing a CAA/FCS schedule again. It's like only getting a half bowl of lobster bisque as opposed to a full bowl of dog sh!t.
I think JMU will be playing 8 SBC games next year. It is not really up to the Sun Belt as I think it is clear we would like to be at 14. It is up to the 3 CUSA schools to negotiate an early exit from CUSA. The Sun Belt is not negotiating with CUSA
I said this elsewhere, I wonder if USM and Marshall had different contracts that ODU, and there's something preventing ODU from leaving and hence the other two would stay.. or could there not be an agreement between everyone.

Maybe Chief has some insight. He's been solid.

What gives you the impression ODU has a different contract? Couldn't it be USM or Marshall that is the holdup?
