Like BGSU this is a guard/forward oriented team (like most in the MAC). The only listed center is used sparingly. Of the players that play 10 minutes or more, four are guards who account for 42.9 pts and 11.5 rebounds. The four forwards account for 30 pts and 15.8 rebounds. Only 6'9" Elijah McNamara is over 6'7". White (19 for 43 .443) and Brown (31 for 82 .378) are their best 3pt shooters. The team ft % is .755.

3 of their 8 wins are against Heidelburg, Spaulding and Defiance. They did beat Ga Tech and lost to Cincinnati by one point and played Clemson close.

We are 14 point dogs! Why I like gambling! NIU doesn't have to win, we just have to lose by less than 14 points and I am happy.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good start

14:43 to go in the half. Huskies up 11-7.

Shooting well. Playing hawking defense.
Really good start…..up 16-7…..now keep going
Hankerson 4-for-4 on 3-pointers.
Fantastic Start.
11:32 in the 1st

Huskies up 19-9

Hankerson and Thornton shooting really well from the outside. We're shooting a lot of 3s right now. Kueth is 0-2.

Rebounding. Defending. Running the floor. Huskies are doing it all really well right now.
7:51

Huskies up 23-12.

Things slowed down a bit. Redhawks working in to Ayah more and he's a bit of a handful. Okanu has 2 fouls. I think Makuoi has 1. Depth might be an issue inside as I don't see Osten on the bench.

Hankerson is perfect on the day. 4 for 4 - 11 points.

My favorite part was the Miami announcers said...there are just too many weapons on the floor right now for the Huskies.
5:28

Huskies up 28-19

Makuoi is 3 of 4 from the line...

Gotta defend Ayah better.
3:53

Huskies up 31-21

Hankerson finally missed a shot.
Good half…..certainly looks like a winnable game.
Huskies go on 6-0 run to finish the half and go to the locker room up 37-27.

Let Miami back into it with a lackluster 3 or 4 minutes until the last minute and a half of so mostly spurred on by Williams who really didn't do much the entire half up to that point.

Thornton was hot to start the game and hasn't done much scoring since.

Crump had a great put back at the buzzer (off a Thornton drive and short miss) to stretch the lead back out to 10.

Gotta play defense and make shots. Ayah is an issue but he's not a good free throw shooter so if you have to foul him, that is an option. No Osten to rotate in. Okanu has 2 fouls. Makuoi has 1.

Hankerson leading the way with 14 points. Thornton with 8, Williams with 6.

The only offensive void right now is Kueth who is 0-5 (0-4 behind the arc) and missed a wide open layup. But, he's playing well on the defensive half and is rebounding.
Kueth has been my most disappointing player of the season so far. He’s out there for one reason to make 3’s. He keeps getting wide open shots and hasn’t hit all season

Primarily. But he's also out there because he's tall and long and has defensive and rebounding benefits.

Luckily, the Huskies have a few guys who can shoot the 3 on any given night (especially now that Hankerson seems to be over his early season slump).

But, yeah...when you come of the bench as a 3 point shooter...you need to make a few.

At times he reminds me of an Anthony Crump if Anthony Crump didn't have confidence. He's timid at times and gets down on himself. And when that happens, he's weak with the ball and prematurely ends possessions.

But I do agree in the disappointment factor. I expected him to be more of a threat and he simply hasn't been.
Makuoi picks up 2 quick fouls (one was complete bull****).

So, now we have foul issues inside.
15:43

Huskies up 43-33

Playing really good defense. Contesting every shot. Contesting every pass. Lots of tips and adjustments by Miami. Gotta keep up the pressure.

Biggest issue is the foul trouble, but, this team is playing very good defense.
13:11

Huskies up 43-37

Miami has gotten a couple open 3s and buried them. Gotta clean up a few things.

Yeah. We don't have much depth inside today. Luckily, neither does Miami and when Ayah comes out (which he rarely does), it changes the dynamic of their roster. Unfortunately, NIU didn't really take advantage of it because when it happened, it coincided with Crump deciding to do odd things, which he's prone to do.
