Quote:President Joe Biden gave what was officially billed as a “press conference” at the White House earlier today where numerous whoppers were told, many concerning statements were made, and laughable claims about “overperforming expectations” were uttered. But it was something happening on the floor of the U.S. Senate at that same time Biden was taking questions that caused quite a stir and got a lot of people talking.

During Biden’s presser, he was specifically asked about his inability to get “Build Back Better” and the so-called “voting rights” bill passed not just because Republicans opposed him but also because two Democrat Senators – West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema – won’t budge on preserving the Senate’s filibuster rule, which Democrats abused with wild abandon when Donald Trump was president.

The gist of Biden’s responses to that question and others related to it was that it was going to be a tough job but that he was going to get things done, even if it had to be in “chunks.”

But as Biden was in the midst of taking questions from reporters on his stalled agenda items, Manchin went to the Senate floor, complete with placards in hand and on full display, to once again reiterate his support for keeping the filibuster rule in place.

In other words, while Joe Biden was holding only the second solo press conference of his presidency to date and promising he’d get things done, Joe Manchin was saying – in a nutshell – “I don’t think so, buddy”:

“Allowing one party to exert complete control in the Senate with only a simple majority will only pour fuel on the fire of political whiplash and dysfunction that is tearing this nation apart, and you don’t have to look very far to see how we’re tearing ourselves apart,” said Manchin, who added that if the Democrats’ gambit succeeded, “there’s not going to be any check on the executive branch.”

“Eliminating the filibuster would be the easy way out,” the moderate added later in his remarks. “I cannot support such a perilous course for this nation when elected leaders are sent to Washington to unite our country, not to divide our country. We’re called the United States, not the divided states and putting politics and party aside is what we’re supposed to do.”

Watch portions of Manchin’s speech below:

This almost makes me wish Senators had the option of using sound effects during speeches. An evil Vincent Price laugh would fit in perfectly right at the end. Wouldn’t be very statesman-like, but it’d still be funny to see.

But I digress. The split-screen here basically tells the story of what happened:

If Manchin is afraid of being “primaried,” as some Democrats are threatening to do, he’s sure not showing it, is he?

THAT SPEECH, will live as long as "give me liberty..." I would vote for this Democrat he is truly a patriot and loves his country unlike the scum like Peloser, Schemer, Aoc, Ill Hand, etc.

Hooray Mr. Manchin, you've put partisan politics aside for the good of your and our country.
If he is primaried, the Democrat contender will lose to a more staunch conservative. Book it.

To primary him, they'd have to come up with someone who could beat him. Who could that be?

Who said those Democrat votes against Manchin would have to come from West Virginia voters? All the more reason to squash the "Build Back Better" bulls*** bill and a Freedom to Vote act that at its core is designed to conceal election integrity.
Oh, I think if they put up some carpetbagger and somehow stole the election, there would be holy hell to pay.

Them mountain boys know how to shoot guns too.

If they did that and successfully cheated to primary him - who ever it was would get drubbed by a Republican candidate.

Frankly, Manchin is about the only Democrat with a snowballs chance in hell to win a statewide election.

The Dems will be fools if they try and rid themselves of Joe Manchin….at least he mostly votes for D agenda stuff…

I hope they go after him. Maybe he’ll just flip to Republican.

There’s not a democrat or Republican in WV that can beat Manchin. Dem pacs have been spending millions on ads the last few months urging people to call Machin to “preserve the right to vote”. You see just how wasted that money was today.

The Manchin family, just like that of the other senator, Moore-Capito, are well grounded political royalty in the state. With his recent stand on these key issues I believe Manchin will either run completely unopposed, or a sacrificial Republican will get maybe 20% against him.

Every single soul at the New York Times are lying liberal muckrakers, Baghdad Bob propagandists, and pro-communist pigs. Why can't the government step in and punish the New York Times for being a pen of liberal pigs spreading misinformation and disinformation?

Real question is what Democrat other than Manchin could win a statewide election?

I would think that there is at least a fair possibility that in the unlikely event that the democrats primaried him, the republican candidate in the general election would be...
Joe Manchin.
