Western Michigan University to require booster shot for full vaccination status
https://wwmt.com/news/local/western-mich...ion-status
I am fully vaccinated, but I think this is a bit of a reach. Why require a booster shot?

If you want to require students being vaccinated I agree with that.
I just want to know now that big pharma is raking in tens of billions in vaccine profits, will they return the 10 billion the tax payers gave them to "develop" the vaccine? And why are 98% of the vaccines going to rich countries while only 2% are going to poor countries? Isn't the goal to vaccinate the world? Or just get the best return on investment, even though they didn't actually pay for the investment..

How can you be for the logic of a vaccine but against the booster?

it's the same thing. The virus mutates over time. A booster covers the mutation the same way the vaccine covers the earlier variants.

Note: Pfizer turned down Federal vaccination development money.

As Kalamazoo Upjohn retirees know Pfizer stock has stunk for 20 years.
Any of you old enough to remember when we had to get vaccinated for smallpox, mumps & measles before we could enrolled in elementary school?
Show of hands of those who’ve had the polio booster? 03-talktothehand

I remember nurse coming into my elementary classroom & everyone received polio shot. Don’t remember any permission slips to parents.

I have a Blank mind on a polio booster.
So now that we know the "vaccines" do not prevent the spread/transmission of Covid, why is everyone required to get the shots/boosters? Just money for big pharma?

Yes because those were actual vaccines that stopped people from getting diseases and stopped the spread of them.
I also remember not having to get boosters for them every 4 months.

Vaccines are not, and never have been, about spread or transmission. They're about mitigating the impact of the disease on people, which they're doing an exceptional job of. Our hospitals are not able to handle this thing being uncontrolled, and many states are at or near 100% ICU capacity right now, nearly all of them unvaccinated individuals.

Don't ICUs in general run around 80-85% capacity in normal times? This is what my sister in law ICU nurse tells me, usually gets pretty full during flu season also. We currently have 2063 ICU patients out of 2456 beds available, about 84% filled..not quite as dire as you make it sound.
COVID madness. I understand when we were dealing with C19 at the beginning and didn’t understand or have the therapeutics we have now. But Omicron is brush firing it’s way through the population and even the main stream media can’t spin the fear with the plummeting mortality of the variant. When can we just put this damn virus on the back page and move along.

That's a flat out lie. Every vaccine (by the old definition) is designed to stop people from getting and transmitting a disease. These have miserably failed in that respect so people are making excuses based on what big pharma is telling us.
There is no need to force people to get them if they only protect the individual getting it.
Before COVID vaccines there was Live Attenuated vaccines.
Those vaccines have issues of spreading the virus to others via Viral Shedding.

One in a family could get vaccinated & pass (Viral Shed) illness to others.
Seems like four/ five years ago even common Flu vaccinations had this issue.

Had smallpox, measles, mumps, polio, tetanus, shingles, shingles booster, pneumonia,
pneumonia booster, flu every year, covid 19 (3 times), and never whined or bitched about it.

Maybe this would work better.

Seems like at least once a week when there is a news item about some "Anti-Vaxx" media personality who has died from COVID.

I got all this and about a hundred more when I entered the Army and again before we deployed. Nobody complained. We just did what we had to do.

Seems like nobody had an issue with this stuff until a certain collection of politicians and right wing pundits started saying "vaxx is bad!"

There are going to be a lot of interesting cultural and sociological studies surrounding Covid in the years to come.

My original vaccine and booster had a much better year than Lester. Beat all comers. Bested all instances of covid that was near me. Undefeated champ.

Thank. You. Pfizer.
