Hope you have Friday off and enjoy it. Fun win tonight, poor SMU.

It’s going to be wild conference season. Sorry guys, trying to type on the phone while my kids started to wake up due to basketball cheering is not a good combination.
It seems like this team really hinges on the play of DDJ and Ado. When they play well, we play well, when they play poorly we are in trouble. DDJ everyone talks about and focuses on, but Ado is a huge part of our success. He's by far our best big man defender, and disruptive with his size and length, he caused a lot of TO's and offensive rebounds tonight that didn't get credited to him, but occurred because of him. His hedging to cover Davis really set the tone for shutting Davis down early as well.

As others have already said, Ody and Lakhin really struggle with fundamentals. Ody is pretty horrible at rotations, switches, boxing out and communication on defense and Lakhin isn't much (if any) better. Koval just doesn't have the strength to compete at this level. So that leaves Ado as the center we need if we are going to have success. His play has been inconsistent thus far, he's had some really bad games, but he's also had some great games. I don't know that we've lost a game where he's played really well.

03-lmfao typos on the phone are the norm. Between autocorrect and swipe text misleads I could go back and edit every post.

Agreed on your analysis. Wes needs to make sure he maximizes the time for DDJ and Ado on the court, regardless of how many he wants to rotate in the other slots.

Lahkin's wanting to dribble after receiving a pass in the lane is maddening and it's becoming a made to order turnover or jump ball opportunity for the other team. But I still like his chances to be really good. The scouting report on Saunders must be out there too as his drives to the basket seem to yield more charges than points right now. He's an exciting Bearcat to watch and will contribute.

As Mick used to say, when the players make shots the coach looks like a genius. A quality win and an enjoyable game to watch. Hope has returned to the building.
I'm still waiting to hear from the members who were so insistent on Sat. that Wes Miller can't coach and should be let go.....where are these members now, I would like to know how they feel....04-cheers
Ado had a good game last night and provides much needed basket defense, but man he is a liability on the offense. The other teams D pay no attention to him at all. Maybe we have to have him in there for the D, but in the future we need guys that can play both sides of the ball.

Wait 4 years as the new coach will be hired after year 3 of Wes.

I don't recall anyone who fits this description.

UC is getting little to nothing out of the big men on offense.

Koval didn't play much last night but when he comes in he thinks he's a guard and rarely gets beyond the 3 point arc.

Oguama does not look comfortable on offense at all. Lakhin did score 7 but I think he could do more (and I think he will).
Back up to #58 NET. Jumped 17 places from #75

Blowout wins are the key to moving up. UC’s two best wins are blowouts which really help move efficiency metrics. Also beating a good team as an underdog will move a team up as well.
11-4 [1-1]. Not too shabby thus far for a first year coach with a big roster turnover. Illinois [12 kenpom, 13 NET] will remain a solid win for us moving forward. The key is to strive for more consistency and improvement overall. Making shots and better shot selection is certainly a part of that. I like the fact that MAW seems to be getting his shot confidence back. That will be huge for the team if he can keep it consistent.
He's done an amazing job. He walked into a bad/non existent roster that is in a bad conference, and he's done decently well. I'm not sure how many coaches would have 11 wins right now with what he walked into, but I'm guessing it's less than 20.

I learned during Mick's first year, UC basketball fans don't want to hear any excuses though. lol

Shoot, Luke Fickell didn't get a pass from some in Year One. 03-lmfao
