The guys on the Cincy Slangin podcast made the comment that Ben Bryant is coming back to UC for his final year.

They didn’t sound like they were kidding.

Has anyone else heard this, or is it a joke?

I've heard similar but I'm confused by it as the transfer rule at i understood it was a1 time free transfer which he used. Thought he'd have to sit unless he got a waiver.

The way they said it on yesterday’s episode came off as matter of fact, like it was known to be a done deal.

I dunno.

No offense to Ben Bryant, but I would prefer for Prater to be ready to step in than to have a one-year guy.

He used a graduate transfer to go to EMU, not his Covid freebie...to my knowledge he would be immediately eligible unless I'm completely misunderstanding how it would work.

Many of us on here have been hearing about it for awhile. I had an old UT colleague who is now up in Ypsilanti message me out of the blue a few weeks back telling me that we need to stop stealing people from directional Michigan schools.

I've seen some Corey Kiner speculation
is ben bryant the best we can do? what if he doesn't even beat out prater and a bunch of frosh or red frosh
Bryant didn’t look very good this season so I would rather go with someone else unless he’s being brought back as an experienced back up.

I think I told you so months ago. Remember UC coaches work to place him at EMU. Nice competition and if Prater wins BB is an excellent backup.

Did not set the world on fire vs KSU, but LSU was playing with half a roster.

The unfortunate situation involving former five-star running back John Emery Jr prevented him from playing in 2021. However, heading into 2022 he will likely be the featured back. He has the most experience of any of the backs on the roster both current and future. Emery has a career total of 699 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns.

LSU hasn’t added a running back in the 2022 recruiting class as of yet but they have to feel good about either Tre’Vonte Citizen of Lake Charles or Trevor Etienne of Jennings, Louisiana.
Hogs DB in portal

Next years opening opponent just lost a defensive stud to the portal and possibly another soon.

Need to get the coaching staff filled out so we can start going after a couple more transfers to plug some inexperienced positions.
Saw a way too early 2022 rankings. We were #21 and top G5. Article said first game first loss.

Sets a bad precedent to bring back a player who left the program when he was desperately needed as a backup QB (because you are only as good as your backup QB), and place him ahead of the player who stuck it out.

Not if the staff sent you there specifically to get starter reps.
If BB is back he better have to earn a starting job. Prater was a huge get recruiting wise and I would want him to get a minimum a fair shot. I want the best guy on the field but I'm hoping the thought is BB is a backup.

Prater will be fine, especially if he gets in the weight room and beefs up. After all he was Ohio's Mr. Football and a 4* recruit.
The staff has to bring in an experienced QB; otherwise we'll have Prater, Lichtenberg and Luther Richesson. The later two have never thrown a live ball at the college level. Even if Prater is the real deal, what if he gets hurt? What if he is not the real deal?

Not to worry. In 2001 Gino Guidugli stepped in as a Freshman and led us to four years of success. Zach Collaros took over the team in 2009 and gave us three good years. College teams have to reload every year. That's the nature of the beast. I have confidence in Coach Fickell and his staff to field a competitive team.

UC worked with EMU to place him at EMU.
