Fox Sports did a WONDERFUL tribute special to Madden on Christmas day, if you missed it its well worth the time.

God speed to you John, you will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Huge part of my childhood involved Madden. Whether it was the numerous games he and Pat Summerall called or the video game with his namesake, he was and did personified football for me in every way.
Think about it, he helped spearhead two multi billion dollar industries. This was after winning a Super Bowl as a coach by age 42.

The peak of his coaching career was at the same time as the peak of the steelers dynasty. They paralleled each other almost exactly.

Without them in the way he probably wins 4+ super bowls, likely 3 in a row from '74-'76 instead of just 1976.

I have seen a few of those Steelers-Raiders AFC championship games on youtube. Those were some of the most hard hitting and brutal NFL games ever.

The Raiders won 2 more SB's shorty after he retired in 1980 and 1983 with teams he had built. They haven't won one since.
Then there’s this

This is offensive to actual slaves, who would have loved to have the freedom of choice pro football players have on whether to appear in the video game or not, or the over $15,000 players get paid to appear in the game each year.

That dude is a pretentious prick.

bro, if you got skunked every game, just say that
Really sad about this. Such an icon. From all accounts he was a great down to earth guy in person

Yeah he probably couldn’t beat anyone in the game unless it was his 5 year old nephew and didn’t know how to navigate a offense against a Cover-2
Its strange how you can love people you never even met, but I loved John Madden.

It hurts.

My thoughts on him exactly. Even a beta male would look at this guy and realize how pathetic he is.

1. Only a true racist would see racism in a sports video game. The rest of the world sees it as a video game about... football.
2. I'm guessing he's just really mad that his favorite "sports" of naked male wrestling or figure skating never had video games made.

I felt the same way about Elvis and John Prine.
I'll be honest. I had no idea he was still alive. God rest his soul.

I never got into video football for some reason. I was more of a racing game player, that and stuff like Call of Duty. But, I loved listening to and watching Madden break down a play. He had an amazing talent for the game. I can dredge up his voice in my memory and hear him now. RIP Coach.
