This was written in July. Not sure if it has been posted already, so apologies if it has.

It gives a peek under the hood into the mindset behind why he views Ukraine as key to the geopolitical and economic stability of the region. The comparison between Germany/Austria and US/Canada is thought provoking. It also foreshadows why he's now mobilized a bunch of troops at Ukraine's border.

A lot of what we read here in the west is pushed by propagandists as it relates to Russia's motives for the region. It's interesting to read it directly from him. I wonder how we would feel if this was Canada, for example.

Do I trust him? Not even a little bit; however, he is sly and backs up his arguments with a large dose of historical representation. I've not had a chance to dig in yet on if his case is backed up by facts, but I do see the comparison he is making.

Too long to paste so just go read it if you're so inclined.
Its irrelevant how we would feel if it was Canada. Russia has always bordered potentially hostile nations. That EXACT same logic could be used by NATO to claim they NEED to annex Ukraine. It could be used by Germany to explain why Ukraine needs to be part of Germany. Putin's logic is pure crap. The people of Ukraine wanted their own republic. The issue was decided decades ago. I mean---goodness---Putin is actually claiming that neo-Nazis are the reason Ukraine separated from the USSR. Give me a break.
