Probably beating a dead horse, but will someone tell me why the Commercial Appeal even exists anymore or where they get their readership from?
At this moment there are three headline sports stories on their site. The first is about the Grizzlies, and the third is about Tiger Basketball. But just ahead of the Tigers is...the Nashville Predators. Yeah, I know, the CA is owned by Gannett and they also own the Tennessean. But I have checked the Tennessean site from time to time whenever there was big Tigers or Grizzlies news and absolutely NOTHING.
Can’t be that much interest in the Predators here. And the CA sports section also pours on a generous helping of Titans and UT coverage. Gannett actively promotes Nashville/Knoxville teams here but not the other way around. Nauseating.
Dropped them when they started printing in Jackson years ago.

I expect them to have a liberal bias . What made me cancel was their support of criminals and their propping up police haters like they are sources of facts— it was too far for me and sickening so I cancelled my subscription and went about my business - have not missed them once.

I have to agree the CA is a POS. I share the same frustrations of the OP. It is disgusting to see the VAWLS, Titans, and Preds getting so much attention in the MEMPHIS news outlet, and our UofM Tigers getting 3rd or 4th billing in so many instances.
I'm surprised that the Tigers were only the third story on the list. Usually they put Ole Piss and Moo State up there before they do the Tigers.

Gannett's algorithms convinced them there’s interest in the Memphis market for UTK and Nashville pro sports news. This is why they “repurpose” that crap as filler for the CA. Easier and less expensive than writing local stories. Their algorithms also tell them there is little to no interest in Memphis sports for Middle and East Tennessee. So you won’t see much about the Tigers in those pubs.
My algorithms tell me Gannett has a bunch of dumbarses working for them.

As I post this the 3 headline sports stories are Vawls football, Vawls football and Vawls football. This is 3 1/2 hours before the Tigers play the #6 team and the day after the Grizzlies steamrolled an opponent. Nothing else to talk about but Vawls football.

Cancel it or call them and see if they offer you a deal. I had a deal that was $1/mo for 3 months. I cancelled again and was sent the same offer. I won't renew because I don't like not being cancel online.
I do the same with The Athletic. I only renew if they give me a $1/mo deal. I currently have a $1 for 12 months deal with them.

Could be that nobody really reads them for coverage of local teams, so they just report on stuff that the DM does not. I will concede there are a fair number of UTK grads and fans around. But following a Nashville team is like consorting with the enemy as far as I'm concerned.
