Huggins calls out UC administration for putting all their eggs into football and for not honoring its athletes properly, include the recently departed Herb Jones.

What the hell is he on about? Half this fanbase acts like those teams are the ONLY bearcat teas worth remembering.

I think there was a conscious effort in the late 00s by the university and the athletic department and the basketball program as a whole to distance itself from Huggins and the players from the Huggs era at some level were collateral damage to that.

I think there was an effort in the last 5 years or so to bring them back and reach out within the AD. I'm thrilled with Wes's commitment to doing so.

He's not talking about the fanbase.
Oh Bob...stay in your lane, big fella.
Have to say it….I agree with him. I don’t mean that the fan base has forgotten those guys, or does not honor their memories. But I do think that the administration could have done more over the years to keep the memory of them alive and to honor what those teams did. I hope that they correct that oversight in the future, and believe that they will.
What continuing obligation does UC have to a student athlete from 30 years ago? What expectation does a student athlete from 3 decades ago have for being memorialized. Meh.

Our society is permanently aggrieved.

Herb was one of my favorite players. I thank him for the memories he helped give us, but come on.
Umm....I wouldn't exactly call all "your" money that went into Varsity Village as putting towards football.

Oh Bob, don't go down the Mick Cronin "underappreciated" route.

I get that they had some good teams, and brought the program school back from the dead, and maybe they haven't been recognized enough, but it's not exactly like they won two National Championships and went to 5 straight Final Fours.
It’s not like Herb Jones isn’t in the UC Athletics Hall of Fame or anything. If only ICbhad honored him more.

Bob, STFU.
Bob’s still bitter that UC athletics managed to stay alive and eventually thrive without him. He honestly thought he was UC sports.
I counted 8 of Huggins guys are in the UC Hall of Fame, probably a few more deserve it but I think it is solid representation for that period without going over the top.

Some guys would be in it if they were not idiots off the court.
Seriously, why don't we have any of the Huggs era guys on our coaching staff, or showing up to practices? It's likely they don't even exist.

Great coach, but when these guys start to get the idea that they are bigger than the institution, the end is nigh. See also: Bob Knight, Woody Hayes.

I've seen plenty of Huggs guys at basketball games. Even football games. Wish Bob did not go down the Mick Cronin underappreciated path. The Final 4 team was honored, Huggs was honored twice since he left, and there are a bunch of his guys in the UC HOF. Probably, more to come as well.

When Huggs was here Minter could have argued bball received more support. Not the other way around.
I think geef had his sarcasm switch turned to the on position.

The off switch broke decades ago.
Ha! Sorry geef. Slow on the take Friday for me.

Demarr Johnson is on the staff.

Terry Nelson sits courtside calling games.

Corie Blount was sitting behind the bench at one of the recent games within the last week or so.
