That was fast...

He was the Co-OC under Napier. Played QB there something like 10 years ago...
Knowing nothing about him but his profile page - he sounds a lot like Clark.
With Golding and Lebby being thrown around, I was expecting a significantly bigger name.
Curious hire that I certainly did not expect.
That’s a good call up. This could be a long term head coach for Louisiana if he turns out to be good.

I am not all that crazy about long term coaches. Louisiana really got it right at 4 years with Napier.

Historically, our AD doesn’t hire big names. He hires what he believes to be the best fit for the program. Would it have been cool to say we stole the DC from Bama? Hell yeah. But when I look at the response from players and recruits on social media… I’m happy with the hire.

Any idea who Napier will be taking with him to FL?

If they’re winning there is no reason to see them off. Troy had Blakeney forever though so we are more used to it so I guess that’s why I’m not as bothered.
Th only Desormeaux I know is from Maurice LA and has the most wins as a jockey in history. That would be Kent Desormeaux.

Actually met Kent a few times while living in LA.

Aren't they related?

I agree with the other App poster that he mirrors Clark (alum player, turned coach that rose through the ranks). This seems like a solid hire and helps maintain stability for y'alls program.

We fumbled on this hire great guy but that don't win championships. Can't imagine we are paying him much money if we are we are stupid. But if he's not making much can't expect his coordinators to make much. I don't know who with experience will want to work for a rookie nobody. Can only hope for the best.

Well, had not CBN made sure his staff was paid some of the highest salaries in the G5? So, double dezmo, and you can still bring in top-notch assistants.

Also, in reading the advocate article, Napier makes pretty clear that so far he’s only taken juluke and toney, to keep the staff ready for the bowl game. So look for wholesale changes after the bowl is won.
Good hire, someone familiar with the current winning formula. His most important hire will be someone to keep the defense dominant.

Yeah, it's almost as bad as Alabama down there. The real trees have lots of branches. The family trees, not so much.

Ouch. This from a fan from north Louisiana, lol.
If you're trying to establish a culture this is how you do it. Seems like a solid hire.

UL had HUD then Napier. Keeping a Napier level attitude and morals seems to be the best direction.
