get the ACC/Big Ten challenge and also the Big 12/Big East starts up... and some conference play.

and 1 week from today...
Where the heck is Tarleton State? I don't think I ever heard of the school until last night.

Gonzaga 64, Tarleton State 55! Didn't see the game but saw score updates throughout the Illinois game.
Duke loses to Ohio St by 5 71-66.

Purdue looking like #1 team in the country come Monday. Would be 1st time AP in school history.
some amazing numbers here-

Newly transitioned from DII; joined WAC last year. Kicked our ass a few weeks ago even though we managed a one-point win. Probably the best 1-6 team in DI.*

W 69-42 Paul Quinn(NAIA)
L 62-50 Stanford
L 88-62 Kansas(8)
L 65-51 Wichita St
L 54-53 NDSU
L 65-54 Michigan(24)
L 64-55 Gonzaga(3)

()Rankings are current AP. Kenpom has them at 183.

*Okay, Oregon State might be the best 1-6 squad, but still...

Tarleton State is in Stephenville, Texas which is about an hour southwest of Fort Worth. It’s in the Dallas-Fort Worth TV market and the school is part of the Texas A&M System.

TSU is coached by former UTEP, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Texas Tech coach Billy Gillespie. He’s from the area so it makes sense the school took a chance on him.

Gillespie is a very good defensive coach and a Texas State grad, so you know he’s a good guy.

At this stage of his coaching career, Stephenville is the right place for him and he is a great fit for a school moving up to D1. With his contacts, he can get a road game at Gonzaga. It is not easy to get on the Gonzaga non-conference schedule.

I watched the Purdue game last night - they look solid

Not so fast. Big Ten conference play starts this week for several schools, including Purdue. Purdue hosts Iowa Friday night and Iowa is also undefeated. Purdue should be favored but it won't be a cakewalk.

true. And how often times do we see a team poised to ascend to the top stub its toe right before.
lol-
Michigan losing to UNC tonight.

Leads to this pretty funny take...
Man the ACC almost stormed back to tie the challenge. People talk about the ACC not having depth, but the big ten was carried almost exclusively by its top half teams while the "depth" teams pooped the bed.
Utah Valley upsets BYU.

72-65 in overtime at UVU. Good win for UVU and the WAC.

Kyle Smith is an excellent coach. He did a great job at USF, and he has really improved Wazzu.

From Ken Pom on twitter
Just 9 games left that could possibly be between 2 unbeaten teams.
12/3 Iowa/Purdue
12/8 Wyoming/Arizona
12/9 Iowa/Iowa State
1/1 Baylor/Iowa State
1/2 Arizona/USC
1/15 Arkansas/LSU
1/16 Iowa/Minnesota
1/31 Colorado State/Wyoming
2/2 Purdue/Minnesota

think he'll be deleting this as only 8 games max now as one of Iowa or Purdue has to lose so that will drop at least 1 game.

B1G wins 8-6. But it easily could have been a blowout.

Lot of close games
3 OT Games (all won by ACC)
2 one point games(both won by B1G)
4 games with 10 or higher point margin (3-1 B1G).

I love looking at the game flow graphs on the ESPN box scores. Good lord was that a putrid first half. Something like four points total scored in an eleven-minute span. Sluggish starts to games are one thing, but WSU came out slinging those first 2-3 minutes. Ice cold the rest of the half. ASU utterly lifeless throughout.
