CONFERENCE RANKINGS:

SPECIAL NOTE (!): The WCC is currently ranked as the #6th-ranked conference according to barttorvik.com, which has the AAC ranked 9th.

However, the Massey Composite and the WarrenNolan.com NET rankings have the AAC ranked 7th and the WCC 8th.

Thus, the average of Massey, WarrenNolan.com NET, and Torvik has the AAC in 8th place currently, close behind the WCC.

Some/many of these teams would probably get NIT bids, based on their current rankings, depending on how many P5/BEC teams end up in the NIT field.

Those that don't would probably be invited to play in the CBI.

NOTE:
  • On average (2015-2019), 11.8 of the 32 total NIT teams have been automatic qualifiers (teams with best regular season conference record that didn't win conference tournaments).
    .
  • The P5 conferences had an average of 10.6 NIT teams per year between 2014 and 2019. 70% (22.4/32) of the NIT teams between 2015 and 2019 were either P5 at-large teams or automatic qualifiers.
    .
  • 30% (9.6/32) of the NIT teams between 2015 and 2019 were at-large teams from non-P5 conferences.
    .
  • The AAC has had an average of 1.4 NIT teams per year in the NIT between 2015 and 2019, and an average of 1.43 teams per year between 2014 & 2021.
    .
  • The Big East had an average of 1 NIT team per year in the NIT between 2015 and 2019, due to having declined a number of invitations (e.g., 3 teams declined 2021 NIT bids).
    .
  • An average of 7.2 at-large bids per year (2014-19) went to teams from conferences other than the AAC or Big East.

Thanks, but AAC schools do not measure themselves against the “G-5”.

With Memphis, Cincy, Houston, Wichita, Temple this league should never be compared to the mid majors/g5. Unfortunately we never had all our big programs clicking at once and were constantly a 2-3 bid league
I miss the multi-colored fonts.
I think the term you are looking for is Mid-Major. The AAC is not a mid major at this time. AAC 2.0 however...
Ton of Bias still in the computers.

Focusing on the AAC, in particular

Cincinnati.76..........56......121......10 seed(?) (AAC)

Without UC, UH, & UCF, it would appear to be a 1-bid conference:

Isn't it way too early to be looking at NET? Doesn't NET take into account previous year data this early?

It's early, but still of some interest, so I put it over in the 3rd column. It's debatable whether any other rankings would make more sense for column #3.

.

I'm more concerned about the fact that only 10 non-P5 teams are currently projected as probable 1-10 seeds. That's how many non-P5 teams there were last year - - but that was the least in NCAA history!
.

As a result, the average of Massey, WarrenNolan.com NET, and Torvik has the AAC in 8th place currently, close behind the WCC.

.........MasseyComp...NET.....Torvik....Average:
Big 12.......1...............3..........1.........1.67 (#1 tie)

BEC..........4...............4..........5.........4.33 (#4)
ACC..........5...............5..........4..........4.67 (#5)
PAC..........6...............6..........7..........6.33 (#6)
WCC.........8...............8..........6..........7.33 (#7)
AAC..........7...............7..........9..........7.67 (#8)
MWC.........9..............12.........8..........9.67 (#9 tie)
A10.........10...............9........10..........9.67 (#9 tie)
SoCon......11.............10........12.........11.0 (#11)
MVC........13..............11........11.........11.7 (#12)
CUSA.......12.............14........16.........14.0 (13)

.

It would be very helpful to the AAC to remain the #7 MBB conference, as it has been for most of its existence.

What's dragging the conference down is best summarized by noting the fact that there are only two AAC teams in the top 50 and only five AAC teams in the top 100 of the Massey Composite. Thus, less than half of the teams in the conference are in the top 100, for the first time in years.

ok epperman. how many accounts for you now? 6?
.

No question about it. You went after two fans of your own team.

And it's obvious from their posts that they were nice guys, and were trying to ignore you, and said that you were frightening them.

.
Went after LOL

God, you're so dramatic, epperman.
I didn't think the initial NCAA public NET ranking came out until sometime in December. Yeah they're not out yet, this is just people's estimation.
