We're projected to win. We have beaten teams that have beaten them, we are playing much better all around.

This is absolutely a game we can lose, but a game I think we should win.

We are hardly a dominant team. Game could easily go either way, but I do like our chances.

This game will be an emotional dog fight for both teams. Our Monarchs will need and deserve a big crowd. And the weather is predicted to be chilly but sunny. The crowds the last three games have been absolutely feeble. Have to admit I expect another feeble crowd. But we’ll see.

They should reopen the dorms a day early.

Here's why I am optimistic: We should be able to run the ball against Charlotte. They have one of the worst rush defenses in the country (ranked 118/130).

This is a good idea!

They should go on a marketing blitz and sell tickets dirt cheap with added perks. Hype up the game as the place to be on Saturday. Perhaps even offering a two for one. A ticket to the lowly Longwood game on Friday also gets you a football ticket the following day. ODU needs to get creative.

One of the worst defenses overall. Offense is decent tho

Last game was not a big crowd but I thought it was loud when it needed to be. For the size. The refs admonishing the band may have contributed to that.

Charlotte is 1-4 away, and have lost two straight.

Charlotte runs the spread on offense that is pretty good - both on the ground and in the air.
5' 11" Senior QB Chris Reynolds is a solid 64% passer who has thrown 24 TDs and 7 INTs, averaging 8 yds/comp. He has been sacked 17 times
He is not a dual threat per se, but will run when necessary.
He has 3 primary wide receivers who all average over 13 yds /catch.
The rushing game is split between 3 RBs. The 49er rushing attack averages a respectable 4.1yds/carry.

Kicker J. Cruz has made 36 of 37 XPs and 62% FGs with a long of 56 yards

Charlotte runs a base 4-2-5 or a 4-3 defense depending on opponent and down, and it is not very good; statistically one of the poorer defenses we have faced.
The passing defense allows 255 yards/game, ranked 102 of 130 in the Nation
The rushing allows 213 yards/game @5.5 yards/carry. At 118 of 130 in the Nation, it is statistically the worst FBS rushing defensed we have faced all season.
The 49ers have 15 sacks on the season.

We are favored in the game, -10 from Caesers. It is a fairly large spread and is the first and only time we have been favored vs an FBS team this season.

This is a game we should win.
We are at home, and getting better, Charlotte is on the road and seems to have already peaked.

I have a background in sports betting so that spread makes me cringe. When a team covers a bunch of games as an underdog and then becomes a big favorite, they typically don't play as well as a fav. Obviously, thats just a common trend and not specific to any particular teams.

Minus 10 shocks the heck out of me though.

Having said that.....

Charlotte has a pretty good offense, not great but pretty well rounded. The offense is a step up from MTSU, FIU, LT,....maybe even FAU.

I feel better because their defense is historically bad. We just cant have turnovers and dumb mistakes and we should be fine.

I definitely have been scarred from so many years of bad defense, since I read "Charlotte has a pretty good offense" and immediately get scared.

I originally predicted us winning our 5 games that we have won and losing this game, but seeing Charlotte play since that prediction, they have fallen off. Even there fans have somewhat disappeared after that win at Duke. I see our Defense having there best game as a unit and Watson and Davis both having 100+ yard games. ODU 34 CLT 10
