Because if they somehow beat Meep Meep to become bowl eligible, then my team will have only lost to bowl teams.

Meep meep has looked more vulnerable lately. UNT been coming on strong

Replace Middle Tennessee with Florida Atlantic. No way MTSU wins in Boca Raton playing like they did against Old Dominion.

But FAU has really tanked lately and ODU is improving quite a bit.

Ah, but Middle Tennessee's only road win this year is against pathetic UConn. They've lost to everyone with a pulse.
I think the CUSA CCG will be a dog fight. Whether it's WKU or Marshall, I think either could present problems for UTSA. Their armor definitely has a few chinks in it.

Yes, this should be one of the best ccg's we've seen in CUSA 3.0. Looking forward to it.
Good scheduling in the East this year.
All three intradivision games have something on the line:
A division championship in one game, and bowl eligibility in the other two

Old Dominion also beat FAU. They are much improved after not playing at all last year. Those young guys have grown up and now the defense is playing like on of the better units in C-USA.

Depending on FAU's motivation after their loss to WKU, I'm not sure that they beat MTSU. MTSU is playing for a bowl, FAU is playing for pride. Based on what I've seen lately, they aren't playing with a ton of pride right now either.

What is the scenario for deciding the East? Is the Marshall - WKU game a defacto East Division Championship Game?

Yes. WKU seems to be a little better but the game is in Huntington so I think it’s a toss-up. Additionally, I don’t think either does anything with the runners in the CCG.

The Tops had the Runners on the ropes in BG. 1st and Goal from the 5, down 6, under a minute to play. Credit UTSA for getting a turnover in that scenario, but IF it is WKU in the CCG then I think the Tops will push them to the brink. It will be competitive down to the wire.
Lots of smoke about UTSA playing BYUi in the Independence Bowl. Their reps were at our game yesterday.

The CCG is going to be good one, regardless of the match-up. Both WKU and Marshall will pose problems for UTSA. But we're battle tested and resilient. And that home crowd is going to be a factor.

I agree, the San Antonio faithful should come out in full force for that championship game. It will be a mega tough task for either Western or Marshall to come out with the win.

I also agree with you about BYU and the Independence bowl. Regardless of championship outcome, that matchup makes a lot of sense.

I just don't know how the other crap shoot of bowls will look.

Marshall vs Central Michigan could be interesting. A matchup of two of the nations best freshman RB's is an interesting storyline.
It would take a miracle for UNT to beat UTSA. Only if UNT fans come out, fill the stadium to capacity, make noise, and Mother Teresa makes a cameo appearance dressed in Green and White. Roadrunners have looked really good this year.

WKU may be a Top 25 team in my opinion. I know that there are 4 losses but those were early season when everyone was still gelling. It's very telling that the Toppers put up 41 on ODU and 38 on Michigan State. I wouldn't want to play them right now.

Wait until Zaippe, who should win the Heisman, is gone.

The Owls aren't so horrible that they would lose at home to Middle Tennessee's 3rd and 4th string offense and defense. MTSU hasn't beaten a decent FAU team on the road since 2013 and it took everything they had to beat the 3-8 version in 2015.

While I agree that UTSA should have no problem on paper. UTSA it going to have to really watch out for a letdown. If the NT running game gets going early and they are able to chew up the clock and get the crowd behind them, this could be a tough one for UTSA. If NT has to rely on Aune to win the game, then no chance.

This is NT's Super Bowl this year. They have won 4 in a row. A bowl game is on the line. And, the players are confident, unlike earlier in the year. It could be the worst kind of trap game for UTSA if they don't bring it mentally this coming weekend.

Don't worry, he'll probably have about 9 years like Doughty did.
Does Conference USA have a rule like the Pac-12 that forbids any members from accepting a bowl with less than 6 wins?

Some scenarios out there see legitimately as many as six APR qualifying candidates due to the lack of 6-win teams to fill bowl bids. If this happens Middle Tennessee would be the first 5-7 team selected for a bowl due to their program's rank of #18 in the APR--the highest of all potentially 7-loss APR candidates outside of Washington. Washington, who is #1 in the APR, could've been selected with a win this weekend over Washington State to finish 5-7, but the Pac-12 has that league-wide rule.
