I don't know the last time we had as big a home game.

Watching GMU beat UMD looked like two top 25 playing well against each other. Mason's front court looks a lot better to me. It seems like their talent level exceeds ours by a step. My gut is at worst they are a a top 50 team, although if they beat us they will likely b receiving top 25 votes next week. At best we're likely a top 120 team but heading up.

Kim English salary $925,000
Mark Byington salary $450,000

If we were to win, I'm not sure the last time we would of had as big a win. Perhaps the CCAT final a long time ago, although that team was not very good.

Listened to Kim English on DC radio driving in this morning. They are certainly riding high.

Hell of a challenge, and perhaps a win that could help us with an NIT bid.

Sagarins suggest GMU would be a 4 point favorite at JMU.

Be a HUGE skin for our program if we could win this one.
GMU looked really good for sure. They will be A10 contenders this year.

at the same time, Maryland looked massively overrated. They did not look like a top 20 team to me.

we can win Friday because i think we are undefeated but have not yet come close to playing at our best or a complete game.

Should be a good one between two clear Top 100 teams to me.
Is the game on Flo?

yes. but also on NBC Sports Washington.
this is going to be a tough one. I watched the last 10 min of the game. we will have our hands full with Mason. they dont play a center, but their guards and forwards are big and athletic. they can shoot the 3. the pg is 6'7" and quick.

they only really play 6-7 guys of significant minutes. we are deeper, so we need to push and press these guys. looks like they like to get up and down, so this one could be a track meet. should be fun to watch
EKU was our first challenge, but GMU is definitely a step up.
Hopefully the fans will show up and give us a home court advantage.
I don't think we're there yet, but getting pretty close.
The team has been taking good shots, but they just haven't been falling. Hopefully that will change tomorrow.
A huge test for this team. If we can keep the game close going into the final 5 minutes we can win this.
I am excited to watch them play and hopefully will be a good game. I really like this team and I can't remember the last time I've said that about the men's team.
Morning all.

This is going to be a good game - it will be closer than you think. If you want to see a defense that works - look at the Morgan State game - they were aggressive and did take us off our offensive flow for portions of the game.

JMU's squad has solid athleticism - so this could be a brawl.

Hoping to make it down to see my son and catch the game together.
While the line will likely be in the 4-5 point range, it does not feel that close to me based on my eyes. If we win it will have a lot to do with 3pt percentages of the two teams. I don't see much way we win the front court battle, but if we can defend the 3 well, and hit our outside shots we can be in the game.
This game is going to be the battle of the transfers for sure as just like Byington, Kim English has had to dip into the transfer portal after taking over for Paulsen.

English has a lot of height and length to work with so for JMU, ball movement to get open threes and converting them will be key. Similar to EKU collapsing in the paint, I don’t see us driving well if it’s like Tuesday. Oduro, Gaines, and especially Schwartz will be giving our front court some headaches offensively and defensively.

Glad to see both programs are riding high right now. I remember the excitement on the Mason boards the day English was hired and the subsequent transfer/commitment announcements. One team will have to lose this but the loser may still be a dang good mid-major. Exciting times in the Commonwealth, makes you miss the old CAA.

Basketball in the CAA was definitely good memories. But even back then I had very unrealistic hopes to go FBS.
I don't know if we would have went to the Sun Belt if GMU and/or VCU were still playing in the CAA. They definitely made the right decision in going to the A-10.
I believe the all time series is either tied or favors JMU by one game. Gonna be a battle for the Dukes but this is the first time since like 2013 I was interested in November hoops from the Dukes....definitely a good sign.

According to JMUSports, we have played 95 times.
You were close: GMU actually leads the series by one game: 48-47.
We can tie it up with a W.

Edit: GMU has absolutely OWNED this series the last 25 meetings (since 2005).
We are 2-23 against them.
It's about time we put this back in our favor.
Question for the group. How is the clearance in the new parking deck by the AUBC? Planning on driving up in the Tahoe and want to make sure that's not a massive mistake before leaving Richmond haha.

I parked a Nissan Pathfinder in there no problem - not quite as big but close.

Parking spots are really tight but yeah I don't think the clearance will be an issue. Might want to ask the person directing people in to spots if you can go off on your own, that's what I did Saturday and Sunday after we could barely get out of my car for the Carlow game lol
