Cajuns come in at 21 in USA Today coaches’ poll AND #22 in the AP.

We need to win the Liberty game this week to maintain the ranking going into the ULM game. Napier will say the ranking don't matter, but if we are ranked it will get us a lot more eyes on the CCG. As every week so far, this will be a huge game for the Cajuns.
App 3rd in ORV category, good for an unofficial #28.

If we don’t slip up it’ll be ranked v ranked in the SBC championship game.
Colley Matrix Poll:

#20 - App State
#22 - Louisiana

In a weird coincidence the Cajuns ranking in both polls is the exact spot Coastal was at last week before dropping out.
Well, it's official, if both App and Louisiana win out, we will have a ranked vs. Ranked match-up in the conference championship game, even if it won't show up that way on the ESPN ticker.
Well looking at the AP Poll and this upcoming week's games:

Arkansas is probably going to lose to Alabama, so they would drop out I'd assume
Pitt plays UVA, if they lose that it might drop them out
UTSA plays UAB, the Blazers might be able to knock off the Roadrunners
Utah plays Oregon, they'll probably fall out if the Ducks beat them

So App can take care of business at Troy, along with some inevitabilities and possibly some upsets happening (which this year is more than likely to happen) App might find itself in the top 25. Which would be great because if App and Louisiana are on a collision course for the conference championshp, there's a very high probability that the champion will not only be ranked, but would have defeated two ranked teams this season.
If the Cajuns can find a way to win by 10+ at Liberty then we should move up into the 17-19 range in both polls. But a close win and we will remain the same.
Polls are recognizing our southern identity. It's a thing.
Please kill Liberty
I am obviously hoping for a big win for the Cajuns. If that doesn't happen, it will be a little crazy for ULM to be the only Belt team that can feel satisfied with how they've fared against the Flames lately.
App went backward in the Coaches poll.

Lost votes and fell back two spots after a 45-7 win.
Our own beat writer dropped us in his AP ballot. No voters know what they are doing. He even ranked Clemson.

Yes, Ethan Joyce.

We have 1 win over a team in the top 50 of the ESPN FPI. Beating up on Troy and South Alabama doesn’t mean a thing. South Alabama had 60 put on them by a very mediocre Tennessee. The Marshall and ECU wins are starting to look better but the Coastal win looks worse and the Miami loss looks terrible.

I think too 30-35 is pretty appropriate for us.

I’d be with you if Ethan didn’t have us ranked either 22 or 23 last week.

And I don’t think the Miami win looks terrible, they have gotten it together lately.

Actually, where we are is probably pretty accurate but its the notion that winning by 38 points results in a deduction of votes.

Not going to happen. We aren't jumping 4-5 spots regardless of what happens v. GS, especially if by winning we drop a spot or two like this week.

It’s not a deduction of votes though. We may well be in more voters top 25 than last week. A lot of fringe teams won this weekend.

It’s very difficult for me to look at the top 25 and find a single team I think we should be in over. Even Arkansas.

If anyone should be annoyed it should be Louisiana who got leapfrogged by SDSU for literally no good reason.
